Wild Luck Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 OK this is the FULL story: I bought a new internal hard drive and i went to a local computer store to get it installed, the tech guy there told me he was full of stuff and that he could only have it ready for monday, so i declined and took my cpu and my hard drive back home, i connect all the stuff and start it up, i log in and wait for it to load, then open continuum, i select my main zone wich its T3g and hit play, then the normal ss effect wich is the screen becomes black from center to outside till the whole screen goes black wich it is normal, I can see my mouse on screen and here comes the problem: The monitor seems to turn off (right before your ship is supposed to appear) and then comes back on but the screen keeps been black, i thought continuum crashed so i hit escape and nothing happens, then i hit the windows key to try to bring the task bar menu and nothing happens. i thi ctrl + alt + delete and nothing happens. Since nothing happens i force shut down and turn it back on, i log on and do the error report thing wich takes me to a windows site that says: ------You received this message because a device driver installed on your computer caused the Windows operating system to stop unexpectedly. This type of error is referred to as a "stop error." A stop error requires you to restart your computer. SolutionThere are two options you can use to try to fix the problem. If the first option doesn't work, then try the second.Option 1: Install the most current device driver for your video cardOption 2: Manually decrease Hardware Acceleration for your video adapter------ ok so i tried option 1, i uninstalled video cards drivers, restarted in safe mode, used driver cleaner, and downloaded and installed latest drivers wich was the one that i had before but i did it anyway and it still does the same error OMFG. What i dont understand is that i havent installed anything new in like 2 weaks, and i know it cause i checked it on system restore and the last thing was some adobe acrobat minor update I hope one of you guys can help me!!!!
Samapico Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 your newly installed hard drive works correctly? and have you tried the system restore? the description of the restore point does not tells you everything that has changed since then... something else might have changed somehow
Cancer+ Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 Is your whole system on the new hd? Or is just the slave drive?
rootbear75 Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 (edited) Did you install the drivers for your hard drive? What type of connection is it? IDE/EIDE?Is the old HD master or slave?New HD: master or slave? Are your Hard Drives on the same cable?Which drive is your OS on? try this: disconnect the hard drive, then try again. If it works, then you know the problem is the hard drive.why cant you wait to have a hard drive put in? Wild Luck Posted June 23, 2007 Author Report Posted June 23, 2007 ok you guys didnt read this par: "I bought a new internal hard drive and i went to a local computer store to get it installed, the tech guy there told me he was full of stuff and that he could only have it ready for monday, so i declined and took my cpu and my hard drive back home"IT SAYS I DID NOT INSTALL THE HARD DRIVE!!
rootbear75 Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 (edited) we all figured you installed it yourself, as it is extremely easy. so i declined and took my CPU and my hard drive back homethis implies that you wanted it done NOW so you took it back home and installed it yourself.. everyone else, correct me if i'm wrong with my conclusion.
