I think this is known to be related with this problem... I could be wrong tho, that FAQ isnt very clear about it...

It's known that if you execute Continuum using 'Run as...', you will run into this problem... So you have to fix the original problem (explained in the FAQ topic linked above)

But according to this topic, it's related...

Their is a difference between zones not loading and Continuum not working. On both of those topics, they weren't talking about what Shark is experiencing.

Try uninstalling and re-installing.

When I do, it appears in the task manager but it just never opens. I uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times with no luck. I can only run it by right clicking on the icon and clicking "run as."

[...]

The client automatically closes with an error dialogue box saying: "Unable to create zones\SSCU Trench Wars/trench3.lvl"

From what I understood, some people had this problem after trying 'Run as...' to fix the 'Continuum not starting' bug...

if you don't have administrator rights on your windows account, you can't create files in c:\windows and c:\program files (the latter where your continuum folder is probably).

Solution/Suggestion: move continuum folder outside those folders and in a e.g c:\games folder

move the continuum folder to your desktop

you should have NO problems there

Ok.. i reinstalled.. and all that stuff.. and as before. it still didnt work.

I moved the Folder to my Desktop, and it still just shows the hourgl!@#$%^&* like its loading.. but it never loads.

I click "Run As" and then a box pops up and says "Fatal Error 000002b"

Ok.. I moved the Folder from Desktop to the Folder "Common Files"

It was originally located in "Program Files"

I can actually get the game to start loading a zone..

but once again.. it gets to 14% and then the same error pops up.

PS: it keeps telling me "Previous skin not found, switching to Default"..

but its already on default... so idk.. maybe my computer is re!@#$%^&*ed.

Maybe change it to something else than default, than back to default again to update the registry correctly... If you don't have any other, maybe just clicking on Default again even if it appears checked will fix it. But don't worry that's not part of your main problem.

But are you using Run As... to start it? If so, you shouldn't...

If it doesn't load at all otherwise, then see the topic 'Continuum won't load' in the FAQs... That would be caused by some antivirus or anti spyware software.

Maybe some files are read-only for some reason... Right-click on your Continuum folder, properties.

Where you see the 'read-only' checkbox, make sure it is unchecked. If it's grayed, click once to check it, and again to uncheck it completly.

Also, go in your 'Zones' subfolder. If there's anything there, delete everything you see... Maybe it can't overwrite files for some reason (note you can just move the files to a new folder if you don't want to delete every arena you've gone to)

And now I'm out of ideas

Soo.. i tried reinstalling it.. for like the 203489 time..

and then installing it somewhere else..

I erased everything i ever had about continuum.

all that good stuff..

Saved it to desktop, double clicked it..

Once again.. it never loads, all it shows is a stupid Hourgl!@#$%^&* and it does that untill i shut my computer off..

Also, i want to save Reformatting my computer till a LAST SOLUTION. Because it gonna be alot of mess doing that and then reinstallig everthing i had.

Ok, sry...

this is so frustrating.. ha.

The main, and biggest problem ( I think) is Continuum not starting when i double click it..

I think we should try to work with that problem first, and then maybe the other problem will just dissapear.

So, i uninstalled it, and reinstalled it again.

then Uninstalled it. Did system restore. and reinstalled it again..

Same thing keeps happening.

I think maybe there is a continuum file somewhere on my computer stopping me from running it properly..

Idk if there is something that can create a problem like that or not.. idk im just thinking of possible problems/solutions.

PS: again, i would like to save the "Reformatting Computer" untill a Last Solution.

Past things ive done

Ive moved the continuum folder to a different folder, and ive moved it to my desktop, i got completely different errors, that wouldnt even let me run continuum on "Run As" so i moved the folder and left it in "Program Files"

Um.. i cant really remember anything else ive done, ive done everything more than 2 times.. and its hard to keep up with everything ive done.

I might see if someone can send their Complete Continuum folder to me through Email or something.

and see if that works.

PSSS: I think this problem originally started right after i installed a program to allow me to create my own zone. But im pretty sure ive already uninstalled that program and deleted everything in the folder, and the folder itself.. but i will double check that in a minute.

Yep, if you have any solutions/suggestions, plz reply.

Right there is typically caused by playing Continuum with Run As or not having admin rights.

Look through the programs list in this thread. It has a lot of common programs that do not allow continuum to run. Either allow it in them (if possible) or try shutting them off and see if it works. If it does, than that is your issue. It is a sad issue, but nothing we can do until our programmer finds time for us to resolve it.

Yep, its happening because of "Run As" More than likely..

and i have computer administrator rights.. (because it says it, and its the only Account on my computer)

and also, i looked at that website. and i dont have any of those programs downloaded/running, or either of the 2, I used to have spyware doctor, and some other thing, but i deleted/uninstalled them (**but continuum worked fine with them on) and the only think i think ive downloaded since then is Yahoo Messenger.. but i dont ever get on it. i will try uninstalling it and seeing if it works then, but i dont think that is the problem, because it runs fine with AIM

OK, so i just tried another option, that was posted on that link you gave me.

I created another account, gave it limited access, and i installed continuum on the Administrator account, switched user accounts, got on the limited account, and i double clicked continuum...

IT POPS UP!!

I was like.. OMG THANK YOU JESUS!

and then i created my name, set my macros, and everything..

i clicked "play"

IT DID THE SAME THING! Gave me the "unable to create zones..blahblah" i was so pissed.

and then i doubled clicked the game again, and i was gonna try it again..

it didnt save ANYTHING i just did, it didnt save my macros, my name. or anything...

And im like.. wtf.

It honestly sounds like for some reason continuum's folder is installing as read-only, or not permitted for you to write in it. I can't remember if it has the option for install for all users on computer, make sure that is oked.

Make sure the folder isn't marked read-only also.

The folder was marked as "Read only"

I changed it and now im about to see the results.. it "applying attributes" or something like that..

but i will brb with the result

So.. apparently the folder wants to be Read only..

because ive made it NOT "read only" 2 times, and it goes back to being read only..

do i need to make it "read only" for "this folder" of "this folder, subfolders and files"

I did the second one both times.

idk if thats the problem or not.

i will try it the other way though.

PS: is there supposed to be a "Check mark" or a "Green Box" in the box that you click if you want it to be "read only"

because in the "hidden" one... it gives me a Green Check mark.. but in the "Read only" it gives me a green box.

Posted

Well, the folder will always say read-only, I should of said the continuum directory files, sorry.Make sure they are not read-only. Zone.dat, Macro.dat, Keyboard.dat, and Profile.dat

Edit: Hidden? Why would they be hidden...
