BDwinsAlt Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Then why do most sciencetist believe the world is less than 1 million yeas old?
BDwinsAlt Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 The ocean emits 90 Billion tonnes of C02, plants emits 90 billion tonnes of c02, and humans emit 6 billion tones. We aren't that significant to our environment.Where is caveman today? I don't see any half man/half monkeys running around anywhere. Where is the missing link? It's awfully convent that we can't reproduce a lot of these theories. It takes "millions of years" What's stopping anyone from speeding it up or finally admitting they were wrong. Science exists today to try to disprove all religion. Do you really want to think of yourself as evolved bacterial soup?
SeVeR Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 (edited) Sil: Not to butt heads here, but from Brains post I did not think he was confusing those terms at all. As an atheist denies the existance of supreme beings. But if said person claims to be a scientific person, how can they claim that no being exists with no proof of such lack of existence. Yes sil, that is absolutely correct. You misunderstand, i don't disagree with brain about atheists, i disagreed with his !@#$%^&*umption that the people who had posted in this thread are atheists. He was trying to label us with that correct, yet insulting, fact about atheists for the simple reason that we were criticising Christianity. Christians like to polarise debates to make those who disagree with them appear as the opposite extreme. No-one here had claimed to be an atheist, which is why he was wrong. But yes, i agree, anyone who says unequivocably that God does NOT exist cannot be a scientific person. BDwins: Then why do most sciencetist believe the world is less than 1 million yeas old? Are you serious? Maybe a few people who run Christian websites, and who call themselves scientists, will tell you the Earth is that young. Well in excess of 90% of the scientific community believe the Earth is 4.5 billion years old (plus or minus 1%). Just type "how old is the earth" into google... or look somewhere other than "answersingenesis" for information that isn't doctored towards a Biblical answer. The ocean emits 90 Billion tonnes of C02, plants emits 90 billion tonnes of c02, and humans emit 6 billion tones. We aren't that significant to our environment. I see you didn't read my last post. Find the answer there. Do you really want to think of yourself as evolved bacterial soup? It doesn't bother me in the slightest. We should really be asking you this question though, i'm guessing your answer is 'No'? Where is caveman today? I don't see any half man/half monkeys running around anywhere. There is a fossil record. They aren't around today because our spieces has wiped out the lesser unevolved spieces'. That's how evolution works; we evolve to better survive, and thus we are stronger than those that don't evolve. We either kill them or they die out as a result of being marginalized by a stronger spieces. Again though, evolution is not scientific fact. It's just the best theory we have, given that no other supported theories exist. "God magicked it all into place" is not a supported theory. Edited June 19, 2007 by SeVeR

Samapico Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Then why do most sciencetist believe the world is less than 1 million yeas old?I laughed... reallyAnd the 6000 years one... I didn't know there were still people believing thatHumanity != world but still Global Warming is a myth. You're just gullible if you believe it.That argumentation makes no sense... We're gullible to believe in one theory... And you're not gullible for believing that other theory? (Considering both theories are based on some facts) It's just a 'I am right, you are wrong' statement... no point arguing with a stubborn kid like you

You try to correct me, but you end up getting corrected. can't defend yourself with intelligence and your beliefs so you'll change to aggression ? The debate whether the world is so old is about the same with christian people rejecting Darwin's theory (which makes a lot of logical sense if you just think about it for a minute). The arguments against it is usually 'because the bible contradicts it'. I don't have any problem with people not believing in Darwin's theory and i don't have any problem with people believing the bible in everything. I DO have a problem with people forcing others who aren't interested in their belief to believe in it (e.g some schools rejecting Darwin's theory oO")
SeVeR Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 (edited) BDwins, i see you haven't answered any of my questions or defended your position. Sever need to stfu cause his grammar sucks. You always capitalized I when it stands alone. Wow, what a !@#$%^&* up. You try to correct me, but you end up getting corrected. I always capitalised 'I' when it stands alone? Do you really mean that in the past tense? In my posts on this board i only capitalise 'I' at the start of a sentence. However, it is supposed to be capitalised mid-sentence, and in the many do!@#$%^&*ents i have written, i write 'I' with the proper capitilisation. On the internet (emails and forum posts) it is generally accepted that one does not capitalise the letter 'I' mid sentence. BTW the word 'need' requires an 's' on the end of it; and as i said before, i don't think you want the past tense on capitalise. Before your ignorance hits you again, i'm English, and we spell 'capitalise' with an 's' and not a 'z'. Edited June 20, 2007 by SeVeR

I DO have a problem with people forcing others who aren't interested in their belief to believe in it (e.g some schools rejecting Darwin's theory oO") A completely unprovable and unsupported theory such as creationism doesn't belong in a science class anymore than stories about UFOs and aliens do. However if creationism was put into science classes it would have to go under the same scrutiny as evolution does. Thus it would be completely discreditted, and the kids might actually learn something about why creationism is complete rubbish.
Drake7707 Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 errr yeah, I meant schools are subs!@#$%^&*uting Darwin's theory for the bible. Both shouldn't be in the lessons. Edit: fixed grammer

The Apache Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 i don't believe in christ for the following reasons: * how could one guy create everything?* how do you know this !@#$%^&*ing bible wasn't written up by some !@#$%^&*ing tosspot homo?* there's too much science behind why the world exists and how it came than your god/jesus nonsense. science rules all in this debate. there's no evidence that anything in the bible actually happened. i don't follow books.

I've been talking to my dad about this, and we had a great laugh.Yeah, he created science, and everything else. How? Why he snapped his fingers. That was the real "Big Bang."Also, anyone who does not accept Christianity as their faith and myself as their savior, you're all going to burn for eternity in the fiery pits of !@#$%^&* as well. Sever, I made sure my father saved a special place for you in !@#$%^&* where you can be sodomized over forty times a day by a test tube for your heretical statements. I felt a test tube would be appropriate given your faith in science over myself, your true Savior, Jesus Christ.

You could rule heaven and Earth, and i'll get to smoke pot with you in heaven whilst getting a massage from the virgin mary. Ya know, your mum is so hot Jesus, i would totally hit that. Maybe i'll be ya daddy in law someday huh? I guess that would make me God. How's about we forget the whole sodomy thing then?
Falcoknight Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Hmm.. Interesting.Deal. The old fart hasn't even looked at what's going on down here in something like a thousand years..I'll poison his tomato soup. Oh how God loves tomato soup. As one of my first acts as God, I think I'll alter the way the human body works so that at least one box of macaroni and cheese needs to be eaten each week in order to survive. Kraft fo sho, none of that imitator !@#$%^&*. (I'm gunning for you, !@#$%^&*ty frozen Stouffer's macaroni and cheese TV dinners!)

Guest Knightflame Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Thanks guys for correcting me on Mary. I realized my mistake. But how in the world do we get to talking about the freakin' Coran. I mean come on some of you are talking about this and it's concerning me as to whether we have some muslim terrorists on this site. Call me prejudice but I am pretty patriotic and I hate anyone who studies the Coran. I am going to show you guys something Friday about how good muslims CANNOT be good Americans. Yes this has proof and research backing it up.
NBVegita Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Wow. Way to show intolerance. Do your parents happen to run around wearing white sheets?
SeVeR Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Why would a Muslim terrorist visit the subspace political forum? I don't remember anyone talking about the Qur'an...
Samapico Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 I had a reply to this extremist christian... but I hit ctrl-w by mistake and it closed the tab... so bleh...Knightflame I hope you'll go straight to !@#$%^&* surrounded by muslim terroristsCall me prejudice but I am pretty patriotic and I hate anyone who studies the CoranThat made me laugh... Hating muslims make you more patriotic? Muslim terrorists interpret the coran in the wrong way, just as you interpret the bible wrong... You're as extremist as they are.And it's not like there weren't any christian terrorists anyway...If there was a civil war in USA, there'd be as many christian terrorists as there are muslim terrorists who blow themselves up in middle-east right now...
Greased_Lightning Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 (edited) Wow, there's been a lot of unpleasantness in this forum for the last week. First off, I don't know what to believe. I believe that Jesus Christ existed as a man and what happened historically is correct, just as I believe Muhammed (sp?) existed (the six-armed deities of some religions I don't believe in, sorry I guess that makes me predjudiced). Getting to the point, what I believe God-wise: I believe that the universe is in that 3-5 billion year old thing. If there was no Supreme Being, then what was there in the beginning? The super-hot super-dense m!@#$%^&* that could have elicited the Big Bang? What was before that? If there is an SB, where did It come from? What was before what there is now? Anything? Nothing? How can nothingness exist, and how can something-ness then come from nothingness? My best comfort to these questions is that mankind does not understand how because we are as of yet unable to. Maybe in thousands, millions, billions of years, we could understand. Or maybe not. Another interesting thought I've had regarding the intelligence of man. Humans are mammals that live on land. Why are there not fish, reptiles, birds that exhibit an appreciable degree of intelligence? I mean, we didn't reach North & South America until at least several thousand years ago. And that was intelligent man. Why didn't they find other intelligent forms of life? Why would it be that an entire planet teeming with life for millions (billions?) of years has only evolved one species with appreciable intelligence that originated in only one part of the planet (on land, let alone ocean, subterranean, and air-capable). Intelligence has seemed to work out pretty well from a Darwinistic standpoint, why haven't more species gotten that far? I'm sure there will be people who post some pretty long responses to those questions that may make some sense, but for all that happened up until this point and our species to be an accident, and that that accident hasn't recurred (reocurred?) in a significant way (monkeys, dolphins, dogs don't seem all that intelligent) seems pretty far-fetched to me. So, I'm not going to try to say anybody or anything is right or wrong because I don't know, I won't know, and even saying it wouldn't make a bit of difference. All I'll say now is how about we all grow up a little and stop being !@#$%^&*holes to one another in a kind of 'my !@#$%^&* is bigger than yours' compe!@#$%^&*ion (to the ladies in the audience, boobs). If you've read this far and are pissed that my post doesn't really answer anything, sorry. Edited June 22, 2007 by Greased_Lightning
Guest Knightflame Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 Hey guys it's me Knightflame and I wanted to say to those unbelievers that I am truly sorry for you and I will continue to pray. Also for those who do believe in Christ our lord as part of the trinity, the man who was crucified for our sins then I will pray for you also that your walk may become stronger. I ask for you guys to pray for me too because I have mistakes, probably more than some here. I don't want to get you guys mad but this game you pla, well it seems it's taking you over. Do not become obsessed with your worldly possesions. This is because when you leave this Earth it will mean nothing. Also one last thing-Say there is no God, wouldn't you feel better if you believed in him and you had that insurance if there were a god. GOD BLESS AMERICA-GOD BLESS YOU
