L.C. Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 In options, there should be something to toggle the defaults (of whether they are by default on or off) of show grid, show lvz, show regions, etc. Second, DCME needsa lot of optimization. SSME is far better than DCME for low-end hardware. DCME is lag kingdom on a 16MB card, while SSME is as smooth as a baby. You can run and use SSME just fine on even a 2MB integrated graphics system too, I think. Would it be possible if DCME could be optimized enough where it outperforms SSME by low-end and all-around performance? :X It took me 1 to 2 hours working with DCME on the temporary hardware I am on (16MB Voodoo3) what I could have done in less than 5 or 10 minutes on middle/high-end hardware. If SSME supported extra tiles, I would have used SSME over DCME in this operation, but the maps I were dealing with were not SSME compatible. That's all...for now... ⛊ Drake7707 Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 dcme used to be faster than ssme though, if you use a previous version without elvl/lvz it should be faster than ssme, but the latest release has an annoying slowdown with that full map preview. Stretchblt is not designed to stretch in 25ms, and definately not for a 1024x1024 bitmap. ^- i or sama should fix that :/ The thing with that full map preview is that it redraws it (which is kinda slow) everytime the radar is updated, meaning everytime a tile is set/changed. Slow redraw + a lot of times = crippled dcme. It even lags on my 1.83ghz core (only uses 1) Oh and i have absolutely no idea why dcme takes about 100-120mb ram too :s
L.C. Posted June 15, 2007 Author Report Posted June 15, 2007 (edited) Hmm, strange. With my Radeon 9800 I had no problems with DCME whatsoever regarding performance quality. Even if I don't update the map, (I guess with...) the radar or full map preview, it decides to redraw it for the heck of it. EDIT :: You probably know better than I do. I hope it gets fixed and optimized again. Edited June 15, 2007 by L.C.
