»doc flabby Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 (edited) BTW this patch is crappy, its more of a proof on concept than anything useful. Just a lil fix for ya'll, more useful for whoever makes the installer as everyone here will know this stuff already.I've fixed the URLs www.subspacehq.com is now www.ssforum.net in the help messages, and the default directory servers, oh and i stuck my name in the about box Still need to work out how to fix the menu links. As far as I know the changes I've made do not trigger RED mod warnings, so won't get you banned in SSC. BUT USE AT YOUR OWN RISKI REPEAT USE AT YOUR OWN RISK - if u get banned not my fault Installing----------- close continuum.replace your current menu039pr1.dll with mine (make sure u keep a backup) How the **** did u do this------------------------------- How did i do it, well that's for me to know and you to find out, but anyone with a brain should be able to work out what I did, and probably do it better, i'm quite surprised no one thought of this before menu039pr1.dll Edited June 12, 2007 by doc flabby
»CypherJF Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 I don't forsee the client sending security warnings over the menu dll, since to my understanding Ekted and Priit agreed upon a interface. I don't think you could cheat with modifying the menu library?
L.C. Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Well I don't think it could be kept a secret that you probably used a handy dandy Resource editor. I don't think you could use this to cheat, but rather get banned if you make some dumb error (or something) in the works. Aye. :] I'm eager to see different ways how programmers/people might alter or add to the Continuum client through reverse engineering and resource editting.

Of course I did, that was the easy bit. I used a resource editor and a hex editor. However I challenge you to resource edit it then get continuum to run.It requires a little more than just resource editing Otherwise i would not have bothered posting it. L.C. Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Hehe. I'm eager to see some more of your works on this kind of topic (I mentally have this kind of stuff categorized as reverse engineering, resource editting, decompiling, etc).

Its an ezer way to keep track of everything. Ps: Nice work. Edited June 16, 2007 by Hamm
