I think this poll needs to go up, at least for reference, anyway. Do we think Hyperspace works in a fair manner? I mainly say the question as to how the buy/sell system influences the game so much, because I think the rest of it is well made, in my opinion. But here is is the question, out for everyone to discuss. No flame wars anyone, and I'll be quiet and listen to what you have to say smile.gif

EDIT: Explain your point too, and do suggest improvements, at least. Don't just bash the system, be serious, lol.

Yeah I don't think you understand my argument or reasoning of the other thread. I love the buy system/upgrades. I think it is unique and it is what makes this zone stand out from the other zones.

My argument is the weight of the upgrades, compared to a year ago when I played. Like I said in the other thread, upgrades should give you a significant advantage - not make you a tank with speed so quick you look twitchy/laggy. The upgrades/buy system currently in place takes ALL the skill out of it, instead of just some. (like I said in the other thread) Before, upgrades gave you an advantage, but you still had to pay attention and show some skill - now you can get a monkey to sit in your upgraded terr and shred the new players.

I just remember this zone being somewhere that you came and if you had some skill you could start out and do pretty well, get some experience and after a while some upgrades to level the playing field. I don't know what happened since I haven't really been around but it seems the balance got royally !@#$%^&*ed over the course of a year. I have also seen that you have far, far, less new players than you had before. Whether there is a correlation there I don't know - but I would assume so.

That's what I'm looking for, what could we do to improve it. I don't want to get rid of it at all, it's why I come here, lol.

So now: Any suggestions to improve it?

Like I already stated. It should be hard to get money/exp.

The people who spend a considerable amount of time here should be able to buy upgrades which greatly improve their chances when fighting someone without those upgrades. The problem is how big the disparity between the two is, making it stupid.

Having 10% more energy, fire rate and rate of recharge is a BIG advantage. I'm willing to bet the numbers are skewed MUCH higher than this. I really can't make a case with actual numbers unless someone told me the energy/recharge/fire rate of their fully upgraded ship.

I guess I just really liked it before when the fully upgraded ships weren't so ridiculous. Obviously I am in the minority here, so I just wont play anymore unless there is a flagging game(where you can get lots of cheap kills quickly).

I belileve the buying system itself is fair, as everything is "available" to everyone, and those who put in the time end up with better stuff. I have seen people when they first enter the zone, and put in more time than me, and end up having more expensive stuff than me. Centering has started to get a bit lame with all the shredder terrs running around for new players, but that is an entirely different issue.

totally fair system, the stuff are waaaaaaaay more expensive than last year, and some of the ships are nerfed too ex:lanc energy and recharge, levi and spider speed and maybe their recharge?, shark guns(i hate the new 1s), and terr and wzl energy went down too compared to before.

EDIT: sorry for the long post, my main point is the last paragraph... you can skip the rest biggrin.gif

If you want a zone where you dont get a better ship when you have upgraded it and things are primarily based on skill, not money, go to one biggrin.gif

In HS, Money>Skill

I belileve the buying system itself is fair, as everything is "available" to everyone

Shot has moab on lanc

GB has antimatter on terr

tandi has disruptor on terr

im not sure if these have been fixed, but if they havent, they should be.

ya i dont like expenses, but i've been getting better at HS so i dont mind so much :(

lanc nrg and recharge ARE too nerfed. if you wanna stop lancrushing, thats not the way.

levi and spider are fine even with low speed.

shark guns.... whats wrong with them?

terr is fine--as many have said, too good in some situations.

wzl is kinda nerfed.

1. it is hard to get money/exp - pros usually get 20$/0exp of noobs

2. those people won't get those weps fixed unless they have a new reset.

3. lanc energy is too nerfed, recharge is fine

4. levi stinks at close range, spiders stink at far range

5. shark guns: i liked the old 3 barrel guns

6. terr stinks if u can dodge their shredders if they have any and bomb them like !@#$%^&*.

7. wzls are too nerfed...

it never will be fair, even if everything is the same settings for everyone, skill will determine whose god and whose n00b and then people will complain about them being too godly like.

I love the personal settings and buying system here. It's like the only way HS stands out among the rest of the zones, other than being similar to my home zone (set/feel wise). Edited by Masaru

Yes my terr has disruptor and some antimatter mines, but do you see me using it much? No, all i use it to hunt some lame terrs and people and runwinners.

DK-, your whole argument is terrible, I personally tried to start from scratch and it was fine. Got like 100$ 6 exp for loads of kills then built up wb and jav dueling ships fine. I solo freq and avoid terrs with double my energy. I suggest you get a bit more skill first before going on and on about this and that without knowning much.

Currently I am unhappy about terr energy being too high and also their thrust is too high. It should not outthrust my wb. It should not have 300 more energy than my weasel.

Ummm, from what I remember yesterday I pretty much dominated you - so your "get skill" argument is pretty lulzable. Oh you are unhappy about terr energy and thrust being too high? Why don't you get some skill? I can kill terriers just fine. See what I did there? It's not a legitimate argument you uneducated !@#$%^&*.

Luckily this zone has d1st0rt which basically saves this zone. 90% of yesterday you had 2 private flagging freqs, which basically alienates every(all 2-3) new player in the zone. Then d1 does the "pub flagging" thing and look 40 people in the game flagging. As long as there are public flagging freqs then it is quite easy for new players to get $/exp.

ok, but shot uses his bombs on his lanc A LOT in basing.

When you start asking questions as to whether the buying system is fair, then you enter the realm in which there is debate as to whether communism or democracy is superior. If you want everything to be fair, that's the communist view. You also can propose the question, how can the game be truly fair? Is everyone's skill equal? The question to that question is obvious; no. As such, you must be compe!@#$%^&*ive and improve in order to survive. This is the concept in which evolution is also based on. Is it truly fair? Is life far? No, and it shouldn't be as it would be impossible to equate all things. Even if such a thing were accomplished, there would be no fun in the game; someone must lose, someone must win, someone must be better, someone must be worse, equality and fairness exist only in the realm of imagination. If you still believe that this buying system should be removed, then I suggest you go to another zone as the buying/selling aspect is an essential and one of the most fundamental aspects of hyperspace; you can almost say, it makes hyperspace unique; it defines hyperspace.
