JDS Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 how do you run just the chat client of subspace without running the game
»freakmonger Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 weird, when I want to use subchat, I just double click subchat2.exe And if you're going to provide a download link, make sure its to the latest version of the download. Subchat2 download here
candygirl Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 i think he was talking about the Continuum it self.
»freakmonger Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 ahh I see. Well when he put "subchat" in his !@#$%^&*le, that threw me off I thought he was already using subchat.
Dav Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 Many zones need you to be staff or on VIP to connect with it I believe.
»freakmonger Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 Yes, sysop or VIP. Because it uses the subspace client login. And with continuum, only sysop or vips can use that login.
JDS Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 oh so basicly its pretty useless for me then. :\
Dav Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 unless you find a zone that gives you sysop/vip or a zone with continuumonly set to a value of 0
L.C. Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 SSCI Dragonball Z accepts Subchat users without needing VIP or Sysop status. Subspace client is not allowed to play though (we frown upon Subspace client users).
Dav Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 Can I ask how you did that in the settings? I wasn't aware it was possible.
»freakmonger Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 (edited) Misc>ContinuumOnly>1 (0 allows anyone to play, 1 locks VIE users in Spec) Edited June 8, 2007 by freakmonger updated information
»Maverick Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 That's one !@#$%^&* of a vulnerability.Nothing is keeping players from using a mervbot and spawning 100 players with it. Also, the auto-spec bot wouldn't be active in a subarena or an event where thus subspace players can enter in a ship (and bots).
Samapico Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 Would the zone allow 2 clients connecting from the same IP?
»freakmonger Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 I agree with Mav. Subchat should only be allowed in the zone by players that you trust (i.e. players on sysop/vip.txt). Also, I wouldn't put a player on the vip.txt that I wouldn't trust with sysop access. But thats just my personal opinion.
sil Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 Does putting a person in vip.txt grant them any special powers other than being able to play with the subspace client?
JDS Posted June 9, 2007 Author Report Posted June 9, 2007 hmm intresting, il have to get vip in deva then
Dav Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 Would the zone allow 2 clients connecting from the same IP?you can make as many connections with the same IP as you like, just one instance of every name.
PoLiX Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 It gives them limited staff access. Sadly it really doesn't. All VIP does is give access into restricted zones without having to be on the permit.txt, overrides the reserved.txt, and allows you to enter as a subspace client, all stuff a normal staffer could do, but this allows it without staff powers. Nothing really major, was just a way to make someone special, but not giving them any sort of staff powers, and priit adopted it for allowing subspace in for bots having issues and users having issues with continuum.
Smong Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 server.ini [Misc] AllowVIEClients=1*.cfg [Misc] ContinuumOnly=1 There's no need to get a bot to spec vie clients, the .cfg setting locks them in. Plus doesn't subgame handle bandwidth per IP, so I doubt you could get too many mervbots to join before some start dropping from lag. Also I think VIP can see priv freq numbers.
