candygirl Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 The Canadian dollar $ to hit par with US$: wow never seen that coming lol
SeVeR Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 (edited) Yep, an english pound is now worth 2 american dollars aswell. The current American leaders are running the economy into the ground. They are printing millions of new bank-notes to fund their debt and their war, and you're getting a massive devaluation of the American dollar. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do until the next President comes in, and hopefully he will put a stop to it. In the meantime we have to hope the dollar doesn't completely crash. If the American people knew the truth about how the government has sold them out, they'd start a bloody revolution. The only Presidential candidate to acknowledge this crisis is Ron Paul. NBVegita Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Something definately need be done, and its not that people in government and the other candidates don't know this, it is that the broad side of the public has no idea whats really going on in our economy. So campaining for something like this has a smaller, moreso a gamble, effect than the issues that are at the foremost of the american society. Things will change, let's just hope things change before we enter into a 21st century depression.
SeVeR Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 I agree that all the candidates know about it. However, i'm of the mind that nearly all the candidates don't want to do anything about it, as this economic system helps the rich. Isn't it funny how all the people doing well in the polls are multi-millionaires? Makes you wonder how they got to this point of popularity doesn't it.
NBVegita Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 well thats the problem with our political system, ideally it is designed so that if I, a citizen of the United States of American, !@#$%^&*uming I am over the age of 35, decided I wanted to run for president, I could do it. The reality is I could if I was rich. Not being rich means you have neither the funding or the resources to run for president. As of right now the way I see it is that people are turning a blind eye to our economy hoping that if they don't notice a problem it will go away. It's a very dangerous line to be walking.
Drake7707 Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 it's very good for europe though, the economy here is steadily rising because of bad economy in the us: lower import costs, etc..
Greased_Lightning Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 It also does help the US economy as American goods are comparatively cheaper than many overseas nations which increases exports. China's had that figured out for years so they keep their currency unnaturally undervalued. Boycott the Chinese!!!
LiDDiS Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 It's pretty nice living on the border right now. A quick drive over to the states and you can save a !@#$%^&*load of money on pretty much everything.
AstroProdigy Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 (edited) Exactly why someone like Bloomberg would be your best bet for fixing the problem. Unlike Bush he ACTUALLY knows how to run a business and shows his skills in New York City already. Bloomberg ftw. China's economic model would hardly be applicable to the US unless you would like to reverse the upward trends of the US economy and turn it more into a pre World War 1 US economy. China follows its model, but at some point that model will become counter productive to further growth and they'll need to follow western models. We have long been past the need to industrialize our country so why are we following models that take us backwards; because the intelligence of Americans has greatly deteriorated by laziness and they decided that Bush would do anything, but demolish the country. Aileron Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 [sarcasm]I just want you all to know that because Drake pointed out that the US isn't a democracy, I called the secret police who promptly showed up at his house and hauled him off to some camp, because that's what non democracies do. So, um, Drake won't be posting any more[/sarcasm] I mean, come on! Stop with the conspiracy theory hogwash already! Its asanine! Its obvious that the country is democratic enough to allow you to have such an idiotic opinion, so your comments disprove themselves.
AstroProdigy Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Not that this is relevant, but I believe Drake does not live in America and thus is not under their jurisdiction.
