Ok, so I've been having this problem a lot recently with Internet Explorer 7. What happens is that the menu bar is off by default (and I don't blame it, MS people put it in an aweful re!@#$%^&*ed spot), and it will sometimes appear.

More accurately described, especially when switching between tabs the window will shake/fidgit rapidly, caused by the menu bar appearing&disappearing to eventually stay stuck on appear until you click something. It's really annoying, and is not restricted to switching tabs, it sometimes does it for no reason.

1. No, I don't care about Firefox atm.

2. It's unrelated to spyware/adware/w.e afaik; I've checked.

3. I'm running Windows XP sp2, on a Dell Inspiron|6400 laptop.

Same problem as this guy.

Any help besides setting the hideous menu bar as appear would be appreciated. blum.gif (even then, the bug is still there as the menu's highlighted, but atleast it prevents the screen from having an earthquake)

How is the menu bar hideous? And I never understood why it was off by default actually... I ALWAYS use them... (and the ugly toolbar with the 'home' button is not moveable so it takes tab space... so I reduce it as much as I can)

My icons on my menu bar keep changing, they have a life of their own.

that's whats happening to me in vb6 ide all the time, icons dissappear, move, w/e you can imagine >.>"

I've heard it's because of registry corruption, so you might wanna reinstall ie7 :/ (although reinstalling vb6 doesn't seem to help at all, i guess the ide is just flawed on that part -_-)

I always used to use it too, but putting it under the buttons bar is by far too tacky for my taste, especially when using a lot of quicklinks + google toolbar + tabs&tools bar; it looks out of place.

what for do you need the menu bar so much anyway ? If i need it i press ALT and there it is, but i rarely need it.

my ie setup is:

- adress bar | search (cant get the !@#$%^&* box gone)

- google toolbar

- favorite list pinned (advantages of having a widescreen blum.gif )

why use google toolbar when you have a built-in search bar in IE ?

useful for my search history (yes i know, and yes i don't care if it logs everything, it can be handy sometimes when i have to retrieve a site i went to long ago)

menu of translate to english (can be handy on japanese/chinese sites)

and yes pop up blocker, although ie7 blocks most of it... btw any "pop under" blocker or auto-redirect to sites like errorsafe crap somewhere (god i hate those)
