rootbear75 Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 Reason #75482 not to have a public MySpace page: Wal-Mart employee fired after posting the fact that dropping bombs on all the Wal-Marts would raise the national IQ averageALMONT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A former Wal-Mart cashier says he was fired for joking on his MySpace page that the average IQ would increase if a bomb were dropped on the company's stores. David Noordewier said he was fired Feb. 27 for posting the message, which he said was a joke and not a threat. "I told them that this was crazy," Noordewier told The Flint Journal. "It's not like I have a fighter jet in my backyard to drop a bomb with. Then they escorted me out to the parking lot." Noordewier said store officials had him sign an acknowledgment that he was fired for "gross misconduct — integrity issue." Wal-Mart spokeswoman Kory Lundberg confirmed that Noordewier no longer worked for the company but would not discuss why. Unemployment officials said Noordewier did not qualify for benefits because he had made a threat. Noordewier had a near-perfect work attendance record and once received a personal thank-you letter from the company president over compliments from a customer he once helped.Source: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,276592,00.html
»Maverick Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Since when are we taking things from the internet serious? :/
Telson Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 the guy should thank wal-mart for firing him. Now he can go out and get a real job. Other than their benefits, Wal-mart is by far the worst company to work for.
Dav Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Apparently its not an uncommon thing now for potential employers to look you up on line and influence their decision by what they find.
Synook Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 (edited) Of course - because, as Maverick said, "Since when are we taking things from the internet serious[ly]?". Therefore, people are more likely to be more free with their internet actions, for example blogging and chatting, than in their work interviews, where they are more than likely to be on their 'best behavior'. Gravitron Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Lawsuit the !@#$%^&*ers.It's the only way nowdays.Either that, or really going about bombing them, perhaps with 7.62x39mm.His first mistake was signing anything. His second mistake was not coming to work with a pistol (lets see them try to coarse him into signing anything or leaving without severence then).
ESCANDAL0SA Posted June 2, 2007 Report Posted June 2, 2007 lol...people need to chill with this internet !@#$%^&*. it's not that serious.
Dav Posted June 2, 2007 Report Posted June 2, 2007 Problem is it is becoming more serious with people doing things like this...
Drake7707 Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 good luck to all those people on myspace in 5 years when they look for jobs. Most companies look up the applicant's name to see his/her history. Guess what will pop up on their search results then eh (and internet = lasting forever, so he/she might have done stupid things in the past and be realllly stupid enough to post it on the internet, and it will haunt them forever) Moral of the story: refrain from posting everything you did/do on the internet under your real name (or even nickname in some cases)
ESCANDAL0SA Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 well... anybody who uses myspace and is smart won't put their main e-mail address or full name in their profile. it's almost impossible to search up without that information.
Gravitron Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Why the !@#$%^&* use myspace anyway? They are responsible for the shutdown of ComputerGamesMagazine. And there's this new up and coming fledging networking site that's supposed to be x2 better. Edited by SD>Big
