Hey! On my other computer we seem to be having a problem. It seems that the internet only works on the internet browsers and a few other internet programs for about 3-5 minutes, and then it just craps out and we need to reboot the computer for the internet to work on those programs again. It's running Windows 98.

Any ideas?

High-speed DSL. Other computers work fine. Only a few programs crap out after a few mins, the main ones: (firefox/ie).

Don't know what more you want.. I tried a different port on the router, no success.

I would go with upgrading, Maybe you computer just cant withstand all the power your internet is using. Or its just too new to work more then 4 mins on your computer. And maybe the drivers aren't right did it come with a disc? And if it did, did you install it on your computer? Edited by Hamm

Hamm, do you have any idea what you are talking about?

I would go with upgrading,

there is always a solution that doesnt involve upgrading, unless you are running 3.1

Maybe you computer just cant withstand all the power your internet is using.

that is the dumbest thing i have heard. and it doesnt make sense.

the internet runs just as fast as your comp can handle. the Internet, can't make your computer crap out, unless you are using a whole load of processor and mem

Or its just too new to work more then 4 mins on your computer.

again, doesnt make sense, what is too new?

And maybe the drivers aren't right did it come with a disc?

i would think that he already considered bad drivers. and i suspect this problem only recently manifested itself

And if it did, did you install it on your computer?

ya think?

anyways, i remember having a problem with a computer i was building. the capacitors were all busted open on the MB. could be a problem, is it? probably not, but just a thought.

try opening your comp and see if anything doesnt look normal
