Dav Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Im not questioning that, I see your argument when the massing gets out of hand and agree with you and sui because it correct. If i wanted to i could just give up and to the same thing and it would damage somones chances of getting anywhere. As soon as I say that you come out with this: Yes, let's keep changing the game until Dav can win. That'll be great. Ive no problem with massing as a tactical move where its costly to the person doing it when they are actually playing this seriously but people that have given up and are massing just to keep one or two people on top takes the game out of balance and destroys any compe!@#$%^&*ion.
Shock Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Problem with that thesis is, how would you determine who was using it as a tactical move and not just being a prick?
Dav Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 thats where the suggestions to make the losses from someone massing you with much much less offense then your defense negligible would come in.
Shock Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 True, but someone could be a nuisance and be tactical at the same time. I just don't see why the attack limit is set so high. Why do you need to attack someone 11 times a day? This could be somewhat fixed by setting an extremely low limit to attacks per user. That way, you would have to be more strategic when you decide to attack someone: Should I wait for him to gain more money, or get him now?
Suicide_Run Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Then those ppl hitting me every 3 hrs would be screwed shock =p
Dav Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 the reason its possible to m!@#$%^&* is as another way to break an opponents defences, say his/her sentry is too high to recon/sab. You m!@#$%^&* to kill some sentries then take the chance to get the info you need or deal damage with spies. Its just another way to make sure you prepare for all ways to break into your defenses and damage your position in the rankings and to give people with less spy and more attack to have ways to damage an enemy.
Shock Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Then those ppl hitting me every 3 hrs would be screwed shock =pThey'd just have to be more strategic with the times that they attack you.

JDS Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 dav went from 18242 to 17279 troups still think its a good idea hahahah
Aileron Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 Unless the people who built the core come up with a new version of the army core, massing will be removed next month. When massing is implemented in most MMORPGs, they have a system wherby if the attacker's defense is a certain factor weaker than the defender's offense, the attacker suffers double casualties and the defender loses nothing. For mine it was 4, and you needed an offense atleast 1/4th of the person's defense if you wanted to m!@#$%^&* him. When done with a proper offense, massing is part of the game. When done with an offense that is 10,000 times weaker than the defense its taking out, its just gay.

And what do you mean it will be taken out next month, didn't you take it out this month? If lowering the attack limit to 10 wasn't taking out massing, then wtf was it for?
Aileron Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 Lowering it to 10 was to limit massing. Apparently it wasn't enough. You are right about one thing though, I've decided after that post that I'm ditching the policy of waiting until the next reset in order to fix mistakes. If I fix the problems mid-round, I mess up the strategies of one or two people. If I wait, I mess up everyone else.
