Animate Dreams Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Aileron, all you told us about sabotaging was that it was going to be easier to get sentry items. But I just tried to sabotage someone with over 600 bricks and only 512 sentry bonus, and my spy is over 500k. One spy and one weapon, and I still couldn't sabotage it. Wtf did you do?
LiDDiS Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Aileron, all you told us about sabotaging was that it was going to be easier to get sentry items. I picked spider for the espionage bonuses, but they're completely !@#$%^&*ing worthless now
Aileron Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Don't ask me...I didn't touch any of the spy stats other than the price of sentry weapons. If I recall correctly, sabotage seems to be as effective as usual. However, usually, sabotage sucks during the first week. Keep in mind that you need several thousand spies before sabbing starts to work, and currently I have the best covert with only a couple hundred spies. What I did do is decrease the price of conventional weapons...a lot. Its easy to forget that its still very early in the game. Usually it takes a covert of atleast 10mil strength in order to do real damage, and nobody has that. I guess I could either decrease the price or increase the effectiveness of spy weapons, but I was going to wait until next round in case it picks up in a couple weeks. If you people want I could do so now.

Remember last round, when everyone thought there was some glitch because their items were disappearing? Yeah, that was me. And I didn't have thousands of spies, I believe I had around 500. Just like attack and defense, you only need as many spies as you have items. Though the effect doesn't seem to be as severe. And as for the strength, I believed it to be spy power vs. sentry power. In which case, 500k vs 500 should decimate. It makes me wonder - ranks affect attacks now, might they also affect spy ops? it always seemed to me that spy ops were meant so weaker people could still damage stronger people. This would defeat the purpose.... I guess I could either decrease the price or increase the effectiveness of spy weapons, but I was going to wait until next round in case it picks up in a couple weeks. If you people want I could do so now. Didn't that kill the defense items 2 rounds ago?
Aileron Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 Good point. You have defeated your own arguement. 20 Stealth and 197 Spies != 500 or so equipped spies. Rank has always affected attacks. As for sentry, I've found that sentry doesn't really lower the number of weapons it is possible to sab. Either sentry will stop a sabotage outright, or it won't. Spy on the other hand seems to require atleast 10 mil strength to start really working. My covert is 7,000,000. I'm actually getting decent results from sabotage. Not good results mind you, but decent. Just ask attraction. The results are good enough that I'd bet that when my covert is a proper 15 mil I'll get the results I want. Just trust me in that I didn't touch any of the covert weapons other than the fact that I've removed the lower quality ones and have lowered the price of sentry weaps.
Animate Dreams Posted May 9, 2007 Author Report Posted May 9, 2007 Well, if you'd actually read my post instead of looking for numbers, you might have noticed this line: "And as for the strength, I believed it to be spy power vs. sentry power. In which case, 500k vs 500 should decimate." That still stands, I believe.
Aileron Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 Read mine..."As for sentry, I've found that sentry doesn't really lower the number of weapons it is possible to sab. Either sentry will stop a sabotage outright, or it won't." Whether or not you can sab someone is a yes or no question based upon your spy vs his sentry. How many weapons you can sab just involves your spy until it reaches a certain point around 10 mil. After that point it depends on how many weapons he has. However, the biznatch who just sabbed 651 of my L3 Guns and got away with it has inarguably finished this debate. Truth be told it was closed the last time I posted because at the time I had just taken out 630 of Falcoknight's Fancy Manuevering.
bald Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 I think I was the biznatch. I find it easier to sab someone who has a LOT of the item. I tried sabbing someone who had like 1 sentry and like 100 spy but he only had 20 l2 bombs. I couldn't sab 20 or 10 in one go, whereas I could sab 100 of Aileron's in 1 go and he has a LOT higher spy/sentry.
Suicide_Run Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Yea, most of us knew that already bald. Thats y u dont target ppl w/ very little items or at least try 1 weapon if they only have 20 lol....
Aileron Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 !@#$%^&*...I'm still trying to figure out how he's doing it, my sentry is over twice his spy. Not that I, or rather LiDDiS, can't afford to replace them, but it is kinda annoying. I have the #1 spy and #1 sentry, and my sentry happens to be higher than my spy at the moment, so my sentry is higher than everyone's spy and theorhetically I should be immune to sabotage. The moment of truth has arrived though. My spy has reach 10 mil, so I should get good results. I just sabbed Rare, and got results greater than that which I was expecting. At this point I'd say maybe I didn't nerf sab enough.
Holes Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 If you don't mind, I think I'll answer that. Remember last round, when everyone thought there was some glitch because their items were disappearing? Yeah, that was me. Gene had a better spy bonus until the end, he sabbed tons of everyone's stuff
RedWaller Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Ya Gene sabbed the !@#$%^&* out of everyone.
Suicide_Run Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Sure Gene had the most spy power at the really end of the round. But me and ani started sabing ppl for a week before we saw any retaliation from anyone. By the time gene did start sabing us, we had taken out a chunk everyone's items. Besides, we had like 6 ppl constantly sabing everyone.
Dav Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 you sabbed me a fair number of times, cost me everything I had to recover.
Animate Dreams Posted May 10, 2007 Author Report Posted May 10, 2007 Of course, the most valuable part was the intelligence. I was keeping tabs on everyone for the last 2/3rds of the entire round. That's why I was always so sure of everything.
