Wow, the next Presidental election in the US promises to be about as exciting as the Dela Hoya vs Meriweather fight taking place in Vegas!

Will we have our 1st Female President in the US? girl_devil.gif

Or will the US be run by its 1st Afro American President? afro.png

What kind of impact on the nation would result if either of these two possibilites happen? frantics.gif

Will women assume a more dominant role from the White House to the kitchen? Will men become Mr. Moms bowing down to their superior wives who bring home the bacon? Or will we see a nation where the Afro American nation truly rises to the top of the current society, perhaps taking their rightful place? Will all the other races become the true minorities?

Will we get a... "Thank you for calling, for English Press 1, for Spanish Press 2 and all African Americans Please Press 3"?

What would happen if?

We'll get two nominees, and they'll be whoever the plutocracy decides we should vote for. My guess is it'll be Clinton vs Guiliani, and i wouldn't dream of voting for either of them.

Well, that question is backwards. With a Republic, the status of the populace causes the outcome of the election.

I can easily see a woman taking the Presidency. African Americans will have difficulty though. In order to be elected President, the candidate must leave his or her minority status behind. The Presidency is a position of strength, not pity. The President cannot receive protection from the bigots and dictators of the world, because the President must live in the forefront in the conflict against said s!@#$%^&*.

Also, the President cannot cater to once race. While there are 100 Senators and 400-something House members, there is only one President, and he or she must represent the will of the entire country, not just the agenda of their minority.

That's why I don't see it happening for African Americans in the near future, because they just haven't been doing this in the political field. I swear I can't hear a public speech made by one that does not gripe about the hidden oppression they seem to be suffering. However, if such unconcious feelings are enough to hold the person back, how are they ever going to deal with someone like Ahmenijhad or PyongJung Ill, who have no compunctions at all about oppressing minorities and doing so openly? If they can't tolerate even the slightest insult now, how could they possibly take it when every foreign government, political opponant, and comedy show in the world is mocking them on a daily basis? Most of the African American Republicans can carry the mantle, but the liberals tend to whine about every inequality and sue anyone for every percieved insult. That can work for a spokesperson, but a President must be stronger than such things.

Women can do fine as long as they aren't "the woman whose running for office". If she has a platform and character, than she can do it.

As for what will happen to the US if such a person is elected? Not much. As I just wrote, the status of the populace determines who gets elected, not the other way around.

As long as the next US president knows whats best and in favor of the country and the public, i can care less if he/she/it became a president.

I would never vote the for only viable female nominee at present.

I would rather see obama as the democratic candidate over clinton.

Hillary Clinton scares me. That smile that she has is chilling and impersonal. I'd definetly vote for Obama instead.

Well, that's sort of who I had in mind when I made my commentary about women running for President. Hillary Clinton has no character nor much of a platform and has always survived under the "woman who's married to Bill Clinton" ticket.

Granted she was running the country for eight years, and during that time we did do a few things, but not many. If a man had her platform, he would have to settle for a local position as mayor or something.

If I had her platform, I'd wear it out for the shere kinkiness of being able to do so, I hear them Clintons are into some pretty wild stuff!

In reality voting for someone because they are a woman or black is stupid. IMO it shouldn't matter and the election should be fought strictly on policies which after all will be what effects the electorate and its up to them what happens to the country.

I fear that people will vote solely on a "minority" person in the white house will look good regardless of policy.

And is that a reason to vote against them? you're just getting into a paradox lolzers

Obviously, being a captivating person is what gets votes, and Obama is a captivating person. His race might be a part of that, but to get where he is still takes a lot of skill that has nothing to do with race.

They'd legalize the currently illegal immigration. BAD.

probably... lol

Funny, I thought illegal immigration had pretty much been put on the back burner. Lets face it, if we arrest our own border cops for trying to shoot the guys running them over with their truck, when we give sanctuary to our ethnicly cleansed (not really cleansed) to the south, drivers licenses, and most of our jobs are taken in lieu of those who do a !@#$%^&*ty job but work for less, then there really is no good policy left.

As for me, I would rather vote for a black guy rather than allow another Clinton in the whitehouse again in my lifetime. After all, a vote for hillary is really another vote for bill, and you know he'll try to kenive and fanegle his way back into the oval office, making sure hillary imposes his policies.

That's another thing, it upsets me that black people don't think he's black. I don't know about you, but if I were Obama I would wake up in the morning, looking into a mirror and see a black guy staring back at me. Sure, he isn't descended from slaves, his family was lucky. He's also of mixed heratige, so what? Born and raised in middle America to parents who have obviously raised him with proper values.

We also seem to be forgetting though that there are other alternatives besides dumocrap and reputrification. I for one have given up on the party system. To me, it is the individual character that counts. I would rather have a president who would lay out the whole truth rather than sugar coat everything and say that things can get better if we follow hi/her false hope of a plan, only to be let down even further.

I'm not 35 yet, but come 2016 (if we make it that far) expect to see me on the presidential ballot.

My policies and beliefs are of public record, and I will stick to them.

I know what needs to be done to fix this country because I am one of you, not old money from the northeast, not a racebaiter, a regular guy with real world experience, not a hulk of lard staring down at his subjects from an ivory tower.

I am declaring myself as a nominee for no party whatsoever, but as a citizen to be your President of these United States of America!

We give most of our jobs to people who do a !@#$%^&*ty job? I'll tell you what. You go pick tomatoes for minimum wage since you want those kinds of jobs so much. Giving some imaginary situation that might have happened once with border patrols is only going to win over weak minded people btw.

I agree about Obama.

There is no politician who will give you the whole truth, but if you prefer someone with a lack of experience we have Bush and we all know how well he turned out.

The border patrol thing really happened. Border patrol cop shot at the van that he thought was trying to hit him after he pulled them over, he shot at the tire, and a woman (immigrants were packed in) was packed in the van just above the rear wheelwell. Bullet fragment busted through her jaw. They imprisoned the border patrol (in this case I think this one was actually a sheriff's deputy) for 9 months or so.

The border patrol thing, two of them have been imprisoned for YEARS for trying to do their jobs. I saw the story during a segment on America's Most Wanted, but I'm too lazy to get you links.

I can't wait to have a black or woman president. It will be like this past years super bowl. We will never hear the end of it. OMG A BLACK PRESIDENT. WOW AMAZING.

Like someone said before people shouldn't be recognized as "The first woman president" or "The first black president". They should be referred to as the 44th president.
