Rak'kar Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 I'm developing an online game in the same genre as Subspace. I'd like to purchase a subspace map level design for either a previously made or a newly made level design. I need two designs: One from Chaos Zone, and one from League Zone. Of course to sell the map, this means you have to have rights to it. Either you made the map yourself previously and have proof of this, or you make a new one for me. I don't need the texturing or geometry, only a large resolution design from which a 3D level can be created. I am paying $100 per map. This offer expires May 9th, 2007. If interested, please write to jobs AT rakkarsoft.com Thanks.
Yoink Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 I've wanted to say this since 2001. Dude, it's Rak'kir.
»D1st0rt Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 I remember downloading your network library independent of this game and seeing some code of Catid's. Small world
»Ceiu Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 I'm a tad confused on this... you're making a 3d version of a 2d map? Why do you feel you have to pay for this? I'm not a lawyer or anything, but I'm fairly certain this is a pretty clear example of a derivative work. This is even less of an issue if you don't intend on using the tileset. Secondly, if you're referring to SSCX Chaos/League zone, then no one there can rightfully claim ownership of ANY map currently in use. The individual structures have been recycled from maps all over SS, dating back ages. If the tileset is also considered part of the map you'd be purchasing, then it's even more of a cluster!@#$%^&*. Tilesets, much like the map, have been recycled and compiled into whatever works for the map. It's pretty rare to see anyone make a fresh tileset these days. !@#$%^&*, even some of MY tiles are in use in that zone. Honestly, this is a very noble thing for you to do and all, but you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone who can legally or ethically claim ownership of the maps used throughout most of this game.

Dude, it's Rak'kir.Rak'kir was named so by Jeff as a tribute to Rak'kar, who happens to be a long time SS vet.
