Oh wait what about my warranties on stuff I've bought, they might be certificates too (technically I think the receipt would be the certificate since it's implied).

As you mentioned, almost all of M$'s certs have an expiration to them. And as someone else mentioned, I think you have the meaning of a Cert incorrect ^^. They do not in any way express ones knowledge or ability in any particular field. What they DO show is that your capable of applying yourself to a difficult task such as memorizing useless information in order to p!@#$%^&* said cert exams.
