My freq got all 20 flags. I moved to fr and picked up all flags to win. Veterans team tried to thor me but i dodged well. The time counts down to 0 and I dropped flags, and then Hyperspace got crashed. I got no money. JP is also disppeared.

 

Some people say DBE did it. Of course there is no proof. Nobody can make it. Im sure one of veterans did it because --crash the zone before they win-- thing occured from time to time, and occured at VERY ACCURATE TIMING.

Also there is always a person who say 'this is just server spike'. He may know what some1 have done in real.

 

This thing is breaking the game. Months ago I experienced this thing for 1st time. I changed all my basing ships for centering. There was no real reason to play flagging because it makes me pay LOTS of effort but single person could hack it. Server crashing is also used against high bty players. Server crash simply reset their bty.

 

Yes, I have no proof. But things are way too obvious.

 

I wanna ask to staff.

1. What can you do for this thing? You got ssc. You got dev. this thing still happen.

2. How do you define HS?

You cant crash zone anymore, only mods can do that, and if they did they would be fired by now. Server spikes happen, and its not a big deal.

You do realize I can't crash the zone.. and it's funny how I was alt-tabbed and I had checked the jackpot and it was around 34k.. like 5 minutes later i come back to my comp and it already happened. I saw a whole bunch of people saying this, saying that.. saying that this person did it, that person did it.. and than some saying server spikes.. and I didn't see one person say I did it. Now I come to this and read that I supposibly did it .. when my name was not even mentioned at the scene of the incident so why should it be now if I had nothing to do with it. I came back and set the jackpot to 39k. 5 minutes, 5k. That's what I figured at the time being, because I was reading that supposibly no one had recieved the jackpot. Please do not accuse the person who handles the situation to be the one who caused the problem. It's very disturbing and it can make that person feel as if they do not want to handle another situation with regarding that person. Just a suggestion.

 

Anyways, I had set the jackpot back and left it for whomever to go get it again, leaving an arena message saying the jackpot had been restored. That is all that I could do, and I believe that the server crashing bug was fixed. I'm !@#$%^&*uming there is another way to crash the zone, which doesn't surprise me being that there are tonnes of effective ways to crash a zone, but we can try to fix it and that's all we can do.

First: If the zone DID crash, everyone wouldnt be in spec. It would be more like everyone got kicked outta zone cause zone would be down until it auto-reboots itself

 

Second: Im not sure if this was correct but when I looked at my chat window (I was alt-tabbed), there was about 4-5 ppl in game while everyone was in spec. Im guessing either those 4-5 ppl in game got in really fast after getting specced or they didnt get specced. If a staff did try to *spec ppl, they wouldnt be able to spec everyone but a few in a second.

 

And i dont think a server spike has anything to do with the dev of HS. Server spikes happen once in a while, deal with your loses. 5k from a fg lost isnt alot when before crashes were fixed, we were losing 10-20k jp at a time.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, it's not possible for anyone besides D1, steigerwald and myself to crash the zone in the manner you described.

 

And even that would take a huge amount of work.

Yes, Tc, a ?recycle would restart the zone, but that is not what happened, and either way. The only people with that power (as Doc had mentioned) were not online at the time. Well I think steig might have, but he was afk at the time.

Yeah, and it'd also print out a nice message telling everyone what was happening. It wouldn't boot people into spec and leave the zone itself intact. Did you even read the first post?

I came home from work when the zone went and did whatever it did. It was not recycled or shutdown. 90% of the pop was kicked and the rest were left. I was not affected by it. The matter was handled very generously i thought.

 

So why this topic? The only thing i can think of is that:

1) You did it and want to get someone in trouble

2) You didnt win the JP when DBE reset it

3) You got so angry you left before you saw any of this.

 

Now #2 and #3 are most likely, but #1 is always possible these days with all the new hacks coming out.

 

 

 

I say that the matter was handled very nicely and in a timely matter and it should be dropped.

Why this topic:

 

1. They neglected this problem for too loong time. Very disappointing.

Yes, I agree. It often can, but like Masaru said, it can't really be changed. Staff are inherently going to know the longtime veterans better than any given newbie who just entered the zone for the first time. For the record, I'm not referring to rich people when I say "veterans", I'm referring to players who we know to some degree. So if a player who has a history of being honest and rule-abiding reports something, yes I'll treat that with more weight than a counterargument Joe Noobie says. I do have many veteran friends who I am aware are not that respectable or honest, and I don't take their word any more seriously than those from newbs who I don't know (in some cases, less seriously than that of newbies.)

It's not always obvious when abusers/lamers/cheaters get fined, banned, or otherwise punished. But this doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. We are aware of most everything that goes on in the zone, but some serious things, such as cheating, require solid proof before action may be taken. In fact, two cheaters under investigation (who were initially reported by "vets", not weak people) were banned earlier today. Reporting something to staff shouldn't be seen as tattle-taling to your grade school teacher, if that's what you were implying. If there is a problem, by all means, please let us know.

 

I'm not trying to blow off your complaint, however. I have heard several complaints that certain staff members are not enforcing rules and not being helpful, and I do care about this greatly. However, my view on the issue is that it's only one or two black sheep out the good flock, not the entire flock gone astray.

OMG. You made a thread about this. Look if you are so annoyed about it, ill give you 5k in game I am telling you for sure it is a server spike. Same thing happened 2 days ago when i lost 1.2k bty. I am sure it will get sorted soon. Staff do alot of good work. Being mod then smod (staff co) in ds has showed me how much work staff has to do. Maintain fair play is harder than you think! Btw Fat cheetah and Fat weasel both banned for tradekilling. I just knew they couldnt get that much exp without me seeing them.

 

Hmmm also are you trying to say we should make newbies staff?

You accept problems and agree to live with it Even you don't like it. You have to do so because you wanna play HS.

So you wanna think 'it is as it is' to help yourself. Looking the real thing is painful to do. So you covered your mind with it.

I saw many players do the same. Including myself. This is the nature of this game.

 

I like HS as a game. Though, many players of HS always avoid looking at problems.

They choose to forget quick. Because the prob is painful and there is nothing they can do for it.

But, nothing really change and prob comes to them over and over. By this way HS generate great stress.

Just to say something, I wanna see staffs ban any one of Vets when they got caught.

Some people say this will never happen. I agree to them. HS look like Vets' paradise.

You can guess why Vets report abusers. Reason is obvious.

 

About 4, It is a technical issue. Punishing abuser is fine but it is not what I looking for.

Devs should make efforts to stop some serious bugs. For example that crash bugs dbe mentioned.

I know bug hunting is a diffifult and time consuming task. But It should be done.

I think you are just relying on punishing abusers. Is it enough? Must we live with bugs?

People need to remember that, no-one is paid for anything they do in this game. So instead of pointing figures, nominate yourself to do something, or else just shut up. Plain and simple. If your not going to do it, dont tell someone else they should do it.

You complain about all the bugs in the game, but all the staff members have real lives outside of this game. This is a free, very old 2d spaceship game, and we're lucky enough to have HS as advanced as it is already. Most of the dev work is done by one single person, Dr Brain, who is currently more busy than you can imagine. He doesn't have all the time in the world to fix bugs.

 

Now, you said you worked for a game development company. Why don't you nominate yourself to fix some of the bugs, then?

 

All I'm saying is, I agree with Steig. If you whine, do something proactive and help out. Else, stfy. (And in a last ditch attempt to make myself sound less !@#$%^&*y...) But we still appreciate your imput. Just keep in mind that we're doing the best we can while maintaining our own real lives.
