Homers works were done in Ionic greek, and its dialects. Most of the forms of greek were regional at that time. This is before the language turned into the casual !@#$%^&*enistic greek. The NSA views knowledge of Arabic as a big bonus. Its one of the most politically tense classes you can take. Roughly half of the students are either ROTC or people who want to go into national intelligence agencies, and the other half are people who want to be translators or diplomats. So, half of us have a life goal of making peace with the same group of people that the other half's life goal is to create a high body count of. The !@#$%^&* if I remember what the other two were called. I think it was Doric spoke by the area near sparta, and I can't remember what the athenian one was.
