That's an invitation to have people go around it. That's why I don't have a computer moderate the zone. I don't want people thinking "sh!t" is ok.

 

If someone's using questionable words, then they're missing the point altogether.

Get rid of the "No Swearing" rule. Most people don't like that, so it'll never grow with it. Immature people will always come there just looking to get banned, since it'll be so easy there. Just monitor it a bit, don't let it get out of hand like it does in many zones, and keep most racist words on obscene.

I like my zone, which is more or less the point. I figure there are a lot of people out there that have tastes like I do, and the fact that the zone hit 60 players today backs me up.

 

Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of my players, and I like the zone community (though we seem to have more than our fair share of loud newbies), but that doesn't mean I'm going to let them make my decisions or that they know what's best for the zone. I listen to every suggestion, and every now and then I get a good one, and take it. But if there's something I don't want to do, it will never happen. That's the way it's been for the past 7 years, and that's the way it will be until the zone leaves my hands.

I've been banned and fined so many times for swearing that I lost count ages ago. If you don't like the rule, don't !@#$%^&*ing swear. I like to swear, so I pay the fines and take the bans. He can have his rules all he !@#$%^&*ing wants, it it his !@#$%^&*ing zone and he doesn't give a !@#$%^&* what any of you think.

Its not an invitation at all, you list the words people are not allowed to say, then state trying to trick the word filter will get you banned. Then your moderators can enforce this rule 1st=warning 2nd=ban, its quite a simple system and it would be effective (i've seen it work in IRC chat rooms which dont allow swearing).

 

Let me explain why you need a list, the problem is this is a global game.

 

Sticking with just english some words in america have different meanings to those in other english speaking countries.

 

The following words have some different meanings !@#$%^&*ociated with them in Britain to what you might think they do mean.

!@#$%^&* = type of donkey / idiot

arse = bottom (as in the thing u sit on)

bang = sex

beat = materbation

!@#$%^&* = male hen

dogging = public sex

duff = poor quality / broken

!@#$%^&* = cigarette

fanny = vagina

fancy = want

ginger = insult to people with red hair

hooter = nose, car horn

minger = unattractive person

lush = attractive

randy = horny
