NBVegita Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 I had an !@#$%^&*umption that this was the issue. Why do people cheat in a small forum rpg game? Does winning really mean that much that you have to do something like that? I mean its bad enough to cheat in a 2d space shooter game, let alone to cheat in an rpg on the forums for a 2d space shooter game.
Hakaku Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 lol. People have no lives, and I wish that other topic wasn't put in the trash forum, it was entertaining. Because of the cheating, and because I basically stressed out trying to keep up with Eastern Time'rs, I gave up. I also think people are stupid putting the blame on Aileron, just because he's mod and managed to play fair and get many more soldiers than most people in the beginning. Despite that, I was always ahead of him. And I'm surprised no one questioned how (whoever it was, I forget now) the person in first place had a thor and a shield-super the minute the game started. But maybe I'm the only one who had weasels at that time to notice (that plus sentries, which placed me 2nd place at the start). While this has no apperent relevance to what I've just said, I think repair should cost a lot less than buying new weapons. A thor is just 490k, and to repair let's say 2 thors after maybe 5 attacks = over 1 million (I'm just guessing, but it's overly expensive.). I'd rather have repair cheaper and buy pricier (or however that's spelled).
Samapico Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Last month, when polix tried to change the repair cost during a round, every weapons from everyone got deleted... and alot were pissed off The only thing Ail could do is check everyone's weapons, change repair settings, give himself a crapload of weapons and send them back to players... but that's not fun to do
NBVegita Posted April 9, 2007 Author Report Posted April 9, 2007 People did question, but no one checked, and they were acting all mighty trying to pretend that no one would be able to figure them out.
Samapico Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 If the topic wasn't trashed, some of the members (Redwaller (or something) in particular) would have needed to be warned in forum cause they using very abusive language, which is in forum-wide rules...
Aileron Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Unfortuneately, the other topic did have a lot of materials that make it a junk topic. You have to remember that sometimes small children go to these forums. Repair costs are a relic of the last round. They were set for a much more powerfull varient. Unfortunately, the last time Polix tried editing weapons properties during the game, it deleted everyone's weapons as a result. My suggestion is to buy weaker weapons. Even if you went for L4 bombs instead, the repair costs is signficantly lower.
Hakaku Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Well, I don't plan to repair at all if it's easier to buy more thors and shields and whatnots. But it's just a suggestion for the next reset whenever and if ever it happens.
Aileron Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Indeed...I don't know if this round is going to last until May at this point. While I dealt with the source of the illegal funds, there are still 3 or 4 players with hundreds of weapons who indirectly benefited from them. However, keep in mind these people received free turns as well as free weapons. Without them, they won't be able to attack as often as they did. Which reminds me...I forgot to track down illegal turns last night. All players who were !@#$%^&*ociated with the banned accounts, or were one of the two probationary accounts, have had their turns reduced to 200. And don't try to tell me you got those 50,000 turns by any means that were close to fair.
Suicide_Run Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 The previous thread is like completely gone as far as I can see but I did see the first few initial posts. I had an !@#$%^&*umption that this was the issue. Why do people cheat in a small forum rpg game? Does winning really mean that much that you have to do something like that? I mean its bad enough to cheat in a 2d space shooter game, let alone to cheat in an rpg on the forums for a 2d space shooter game. It is pretty sad that people cheat on a forum game that really don't require much thinking to it. I guess people are just desperate to get a high ranking in something in their lives. The funny thing is I think we are still in the testing stage for the forum rpg cause as far as I can see, we are still testing sets out. The way some of these people play it, it makes me feel this game is meant for you to be on alot to bank your money when you only need to log on 2-3 times a day to make stuff happen.
Aileron Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 As I said, that's why there are turn limits. These people simply had unlimited turns.
»freakmonger Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 err. who cheated and how? Did I miss something?
Aileron Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Its pinned. Generally, it was most of the MG Terrorists clan, with a few exceptions, who had each created a second automated account. Those accounts when active were programmed to continuously change race, and then transfer the 100,000 points (in the form of weapons) and 100 turns to the master account, repeating this process several times a minute for hours at a time. The transfer logs are literally spammed full of 700 pages of evidence of these transfers.
Samapico Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 freak you can read the full topic in the trash can if you want... Ail deleted it because it was full of comments unsuitable for the family...
jacob hunter! Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 I know wth...... I have not been on these forums in 2 days I come back and it's like wow ranks have changed alot! I know who exactly cheated and all I have to say is wow dude why Owell w/e I can't change how people are. This guy is like a major hacker who does it as a hobby arrrggggg. I think i'll have a little !@#$%^&* chat with him in game to help settle this issue for next month. EDIT: Nm... I saw the banned topic and rules... Good job Ail ohh and i see the recent upgrade in your mod status. good work.
Aileron Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Actually it probably wasn't that hard to do.
PoLiX Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 After reading the thread some forum bans are going to be placed.
bagelrific Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 way to suck up doosh_berry...well, i guess i'll be banned that's fine. I see how you allow a re!@#$%^&* to make bans when we were never presented with any such set of rules. You should have probably looked into that. but oh well you've pretty much !@#$%^&*ed your own game up because most of your players are from MG and wont like you guys acting like such ASSS.
PoLiX Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 This forum system has set rules you failed to follow. They are there when you register, and you agree to the registration. As you can easily notice, we ban bots all the time, and as these players we're bots, their IPs will be banned, banning any accounts linked to them. RedWaller will be banned for racism (Forum Rule #1 - http://forums.sscentral.com/index.php?act=SR&f=341) and disrespecting a moderator (Forum Rule #5). Now. You were not on the list, but i'd be more than happy to ban you if you'd like. I have no issues banning some newbits from MG, and pissing "the entire zone off".

How ignorant. "I didn't know having a bot that repeatedly exploited a recreation bug, so I could get tons of items an hour, that I can use for money or just keep the items, was illegal." Yeah.
Samapico Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Hmmm may I suggest adding a 'Don't be a total moron' forum rule...
jacob hunter! Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 lol bagel sorry. Got to go with the power man :/
Samapico Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 because most of your players are from MGLol... yeah right there might be like 5 of them' date=' but there appears to be 20 cause the rest are all bots [img']http://www.ssforum.net/public/style_emoticons/default/blum.gif[/img]
PoLiX Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 I can confirm 11 of that 20. Although those accounts have been deleted. I have to say though, doing IP checks, 2 of those accounts surprised me, and I plan to have a nice chat with their owners.
