Hate someone? Right, who doesn't.

Kidnap them, tie them up to a chair and force them to watch this 24/7.

Kamikaze guaranteed!

*Ties you to a chair, pulls your pants down, pours honey on your genitals and releases a jar of starved fireants on your stomach, letting them make a trail to where their meal is and letting them create a nest in your navel for even posting that link*

Look, it's not the worst song I ever heard. Infact, its not even the worst mid 20th century song I've heard about The Hobbit. It was the 60s or 70s. People back then were WIERD.

He's not that bad of a singer either. First off its a dumb song and there's only so much he can do with it. Secondly, he just happens to be a tenor, and there hasn't been a vocalist in 20 years that sang tenor or base except in hip hop and country. Basically, most people don't know what a good tenor sounds like any more.

That all being said, he still should have stuck to acting.

I wouldn't call it torture, but in all seriousness that is the type of song that the CIA likes to use in interrogations. Irl they use Sesame Street and Barney theme songs. The idea isn't to cause pain, but to drive the listener a little crazy so that they question their own motives.

Its sad. Public perception of interrogations are crude hollywood examples of the interrogator inducing pain until the interogatee talks. That technique is crude, ineffective, and prone to cause the subject to lie. True interrogation is a sophisticated art of convincing the subject that he WANTS to tell you what he knows. Songs that are overly happy and chearfull can do that.

If you pay attention, or rather -- reading comprehension, you would note that I've never mentioned any physical suffering.

Infact, I have denoted Kamikaze as the possible outcome, referencing the extreme mental strain listening to this may cause.
