sil Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 You are vastly incorrect and highly presumptuous, Sil.I know, hence the I placed at the end of the first line. It was a joke. I don't think you would actually do that to peoples bans. However, I do think your at!@#$%^&*ude would shine through in your replies to people whether you believe it or not. Unless all your posts that rag on the zones and people who play them and all your posts how Infantry is a superior game to SS are 100% jokingly done, it is not so easy to hide that at!@#$%^&*ude. Maybe they were all jokes. I don't know you well enough to know. I am just basing this off how you have presented yourself here and on EG forums. As for the rest of your post, I prety much agree with you. Though, I am not so sure what you mean by local matters. Professionalism is all well and good, but there is more to customer service than just professionalism. As I said at the end of my first post, the person for the job has to actually care about the game(your place of work) and be sympathetic to the players(the customers) as netbans are not perfect. People get caught in them. It can take real consideration and work to determine if their claim is real or not. And I am not so sure you care about the game or are sympatheic to others to a point where you actually want to help people. Maybe you are.
The Apache Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 (edited) can someone please remove deathplus's ability to use bbcode? anyways, i think gravitron wouldn't do a bad job tbh, but as other people have said, the newbies won't be able to handle his strictness and at!@#$%^&*ude towards people.as well as that, i don't think many people would vote for him simply due to his often foul at!@#$%^&*ude, bitterness and sarcastic remarks to people. Edited April 1, 2007 by The Apache
Gravitron Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Part of being a professional is knowing when to and being able to leave your personal issues at the door. Sil, who's to say that I don't? But I do argue that it is unnecessary. So long the job is done proper and meticulously, then it is done successfully.
»doc flabby Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 In an ideal world the NetOp shouldn't have to do anything.
Cancer+ Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 as of right now, there is no word.Nighthawk Anyways over the last year I have talked to SVS a few times, and he has done nothing but be a prick. He has an at!@#$%^&*ude of my way or the highway, aka a Middle school kid, so I am glad to see the power tripping SOB gone. And you think NH isn't a prick? You do one wrong thing to him and he hates you for life. He has the same at!@#$%^&*ude, "my way or the highway". Grav, mature to a point, yet I think if somone pissed him off enough, he would go on a rampage like SVS. You haven't cared about SS until there is a position open on SSCouncil. That doesn't seem right. I don't see you trying to help people. I would also agree that we need someone that cares about SS, contributes to SS, active in SS (in all aspects: forums/game/etc.), and one that is just a plain nice guy/girl. Someone that doesn't ignore questions that he/she gets. One that WANTS to help people, not just have the power to do so. Find someone that goes above and beyond.
Samapico Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Find someone that goes above and beyond. We need Buzz Lightyear TO INFINITY! AND BEYOND! roar
Knight Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 I wouldn't so much base your opinions on people when they are dealing with stuff over the forums. Generally, if a post is placed in the forums to contest something, or to argue an already dealt with point, it's just to further their own vendetta by bringing other people they hope share the same view into the mix. It's common practice among players to bring stuff publically, whether trying to or not they involve their friends, they're hated enemies, and the people who just don't care... Their friends, stick up for them, the people who hate them, get pissed that you don't shut them up, and the people who don't care, get pissed because your even letting them voice their opinions. I've dealt with gravitron on very few occasions myself, seeing as I try and limit myself to the working of MG, unless it's something that is going to become an issue across SS itself (which as some netops have noticed, I come warn them of pilots who are in some manner or form cheating), at which point I'll alot the other zone staff members.... Anyways, Gravitron, as not being familiar with me, was quite short with me in the begining, until he realised I was actually being mature, and talking to him and asking for more information (I can't remember what this was concerning...) and he went out of his way to help me... Which is a quality defintely in need when it comes to a netop. Past that, I don't know what kind of a person he is. There are 3 things I personally think a netop needs:General Knowledge of SS.Not coding, if thats what you think I mean, just a vast knowledge of the game, or knows where to get the info. A Professional At!@#$%^&*ude.Being able to put personal feeling aside when needed, and look at situation from all sides. Not publically a saint, by all means people who are too nice shouldn't fill the roll. But someone who, if in error, knows it, can admit to it, and better themselves. Dedication.Someone who has been here for a long time, and is a dedicated players, and member of the community. Whether local or net wide, they should be involved in what goes on where they are. If given Net Admin status, to branch out and involve them selves in coming issues across subspace. Offering help where they can. Good luck in your decision.
Muskrat Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Does that include anyone who would take sides on SVS' ability? lolz....
Gravitron Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 (edited) Incorrect, Cancer.I have made withdrawls before without pulling everything out of the plug with me...there's simply no point in doing that other than being petty and none benefits from it.If you piss me enough I'm likely to ignore you -- I rather ban myself before I abuse someone.I've also cared about SS for many years and I've also helped people for quite a few years. As said, occasional forum/in-game trash talk encounters aside - you don't know me at all.Nor do I see the position as one of power but rather as a platform to amend and right wrongs from while aiding the game at large. X`terrania Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 My vote: 1) Kn|ght2) Freakmonger3) Gravitron As much as I strongly dislike Knight and his completely unneeded choice of actions, I do see good in him.
Audry Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 mmm yeah i would see freak there, without hesitation. knight would probably fill the job good too, but he sometimes disappears for long period, wich would be kinda annoying

Mr. Right Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Don't mean to be mean or snobby here, but how about someone else, or maybe an additonal person who is not affilitated with SSCC...
candygirl Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Don't mean to be mean or snobby here, but how about someone else, or maybe an additonal person who is not affilitated with SSCC... I dont think that will ever happen.
Knight Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 (edited) Freakmonger is a good choice, gravitron seems fine too me, but don't base anything on my opinion there As for audry, I left for 6 months, and the people on staff with me at the time, knew what was happening. Since I've gotten back, the longest I've been away from this game was 3 days, 32 hours of which, I was at work. If anyone needs to contact me concerning anything MG-related, let me know in-game. seeing as our email system is current MIA. Edited April 2, 2007 by Knight

But like i said, you and freak would certainly be my first choice.
jacob hunter! Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 NBV vegita would be my first choice, along with alieron blah can't spell his name. and third choice would be freakmonger.

I'm sure the heads won't even pay any attention to this thread and will pick who they want anyways. Whether we think that they are qualified or not.
Knight Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 (edited) Probably, I'll admit that, but it's never harmed us by talking about impossibilities before... »1587200 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Well, GS does visit this forum, and has been seen in this topic. I wouldn't doubt that he's keeping tabs on it and reading what people have to say, but the desision is ultimately his and/or the council's, and honestly, I have very little faith that the current council will do anything to promote the progress of the game or satisfy the people's requests to have someone who isn't a total !@#$%^&* clown helping the users. Chances are it will be someone who's been afk or in spec for the past three years and hasn't done anything to help the game (aside from someone who sysoped a zone five years ago or ran a site which was once popular, but has since died and eats up bandwidth and hd space (ie, 98% of the council))
