Cancer+ Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 You know, although a long shot. This could be a chance for people to vote in the next netop. Maybe have the council vote on like 7 people who they would want and then have a poll on ssforum. If council votes on someone that doesn't want the responsibility, then the person can just say "no, I don't want it." This way, the council AND the people will have a part in picking the next netop.
»Ceiu Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 I think the odds of winning the lottery are slightly better than that happening.
Knight Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 (edited) I'd see that possibly working... but then it's just a popularity contest, or could turn out that way. I'd still say leave it up to GS and his ilk to figure something out among themselves. Or if a vote is held, limit it to current zone owners/sysops, and major community contributors, so atleast they have experience and hopefully, some maturity. Edited April 1, 2007 by Knight
»1587200 Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 I think any new netops need to be people involved in the community, vocal, willing to state what's on their mind, and people who are geared twords helping the community rather than sitting in spec doing nothing while their zone dies. The current council is full of dead AFK people. It's time for some new blood if this game is to survive.
Knight Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 I'm vocal and willing to state my mind ^^ Too inexperienced in net-wide relations however. I'd like to see someone actively involved with the pre-existing NetOps, who knows how to do the job (or can be shown with little effort) and whose willing to actually invest time into this game. It's going to be hard finding someone however. Best of luck.
Cancer+ Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 I agree with syrus. Maybe a hold new makeover?
larrythehamster Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Yah, Syrus has hit the nail on the had their in my opinion... Yeah we need the wise and experienced netops, but what about a few active, motivated and commited new guys?
Death+ Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Evan, We all know you will read this topic eventually. All I want to say here is best of luck with your life outside SubSpace. ANYHOW, I think any new netops need to be people involved in the community, vocal, willing to state what's on their mind, and people who are geared twords helping the community rather than sitting in spec doing nothing while their zone dies. The current council is full of dead AFK people. It's time for some new blood if this game is to survive. The following list of individuals are the only members of the game who could be the new BANOP. ??????? - SSCC Metal Gear CTFBargeld - SSCX Alpha West SVSBlueGoku - SSCX Hockey ZoneHoch - SSCU Death Star BattleGrelminar - ASSS Server ProgrammerMackieman - SSCX Star Warzone, SSBase.com OwnerMikeTheNose - SSCU 17th Parallel, SSCouncil List AdminMine GO BOOM - Server Website/ProgrammerMr Ekted - SSCX Powerball, Client ProgrammerNightHawk - T3 The Gauntletpassplay - SSCX Chaos/PremierPointman - SSCU Extreme GamesPure_Luck - SSCU Trench WarsWonderer - SSCX Warzone CTF, GetContinuum.com OwnerZeus - SSCU Extreme GamesMinus out the inactive persons and those who would not want the job . When Swift quit the BANOP job no one filled it. We are now just down to kewlair as the only BANOP. kewlair is not very active. Simply put, what SyrusMX™described we can only dream of .
Mori Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 as of right now, there is no word.Nighthawk Anyways over the last year I have talked to SVS a few times, and he has done nothing but be a prick. He has an at!@#$%^&*ude of my way or the highway, aka a Middle school kid, so I am glad to see the power tripping SOB gone.
Gravitron Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Nighthawk? From T3G? He has as long record of ban abuse as the length of my arm. You all go ahead and laugh, but trust me -- I make the perfect net op.I'm professional, strict, unbiased and methodological.
PoLiX Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Oddly Enough, Grav probably wouldn't do a bad job. But I don't think the avg newb could handle the at!@#$%^&*ude or strictness he'd have.
Audry Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 strictness.... afk puking well i would prefer to see someone strict having this spot than someone abusive or afk for life =/
larrythehamster Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Strictness isn't always a bad thing...
X`terrania Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 You'd have to be a moron to hire Grav for such a position.
»freakmonger Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 RUDY 4 BANG ADMIN Might as well, he's the only smod I know with lvl 1.....
sil Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 You all go ahead and laugh, but trust me -- I make the perfect net op.I'm professional, strict, unbiased and methodological. unbiased? pshhha. as soon as you'd see that the person plays in a non SVS zone, you'd just say ban stands! And even if you were professional enough to not do that to people, as Polix said I doubt the average player could handle the at!@#$%^&*ude that you have as has been presented all the time on the forum. A person in that position needs to actually care about the game (SS, not infantry) and be sympathetic to the players.
Gravitron Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 You are vastly incorrect and highly presumptuous, Sil. Whence business involved there is no at!@#$%^&*ude.The tone is set stern yet courteous and friendly.Think of a customer service which actually serves the customer. The emphasis is being placed upon professionalism, which is to say quickly bringing a speedy and thorough resolution to each situation. Each subject matter is treated on its own, equally and objectively. From my perspective, it is best that the NetOp be rather not involved in local matters as it creates favoritism and thus conflicts of interests.Instead, they should focus on their duty (enforcing regulations and providing !@#$%^&*istance whereas requested) and avoid promoting personal agendas of any kind. The NetOp is there to provide solutions to problems that are otherwise untreatable by available means to the zones and their staff and as such require intervention on a network-wide scale. The key word in all of this is service. The NetOp is there to provide a, valuable, service (to the community). It is not for personal gain.
