»freakmonger Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 You guys should make a bot for SSRadio. Some Bot features would be: Player can request songs via bot in game. The bot would be on ?chat=ssradio and a player could !request , on the chat. The bot would then put the song in a que and play it when its time. Bot sends current (and next 3) songs to the ?chat for players to see This can be done because MG has a bot like this. I'm sure I am missing some features but this is enough for now
larrythehamster Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Yeah the bot idea is sweet... i'll certainly look into it A few things:1) As this is a subspace-wide radio; it would be best to perhaps have a few bots; in some of the big subspace zones (providing they let us)... 2) !browse might not be the best idea, I have over 6,000 songs on my computer, all added to SAM playlists... But yeah, that idea sounds sweet... If anyone has a bot like that / feels like coding me one... Please PM me
Witchie NL Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 !browse , to browse all songs starting with .And you can display them in tables: ----------------------------Song Song Song SongSong Song Song SongSong Song Song SongSong Song Song SongSong Song Song SongSong Song Song Songetc. So say you have 200 songs starting with then you only need 50 pm's.Which aint realy much.
larrythehamster Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Hmm... Perhaps. Or maybe it'd just be better to have !search ?
»freakmonger Posted April 2, 2007 Author Report Posted April 2, 2007 Now wouldn't the songs come from the DJ currently hosting? Cause you can't store the files on the webserver, then it would became a file sharing issue and i'm sure TT doesn't want to have that legal stuff held over his head :/
»1587200 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 SSRadio is in no way attached to TT and his server. The site is hosted by twsites, but the radio itself is on my dedicated server, so sharing won't be an issue since I wouldn't make the songs publicly available for download.
rootbear75 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 thing about radios is: YOU CAN ALWAYS "RECORD" THE SONG ANYWAY
»1587200 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 If you want to record a 112kbps stream, knock yourself out...
rootbear75 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 (edited) well i used to record my songs off places like Winamp Music and such where they opened a decent quality stream on their player...i dont anymore95% of my songs are legit copies (of the 50% of my music that you have to buy...) Edited April 2, 2007 by rootbear75
Drake7707 Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 ppl actually pay for mp3s o_O?? !latest: latest additions!recent: recent played!top: most requested songs
»Maverick Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 TWCore has a radio bot (user: public, pw: public) which works with a java client that communicates with the bot. I believe it has much of the above proposed ideas. One problem is that the client is currently lost, I'm trying to get it from someone but I think it's lost for good. Once it's found it can probably also be used for SSRadio.
Samapico Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 for the browse thing... the bot doesn't have to have access to the files... just to the playlist file, which would be supplied by the host or something
BoogaBooga Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 pfft.. list songs and show next 3 songs and such might be counter-productive. The only thing that could be handy is to show the current track, and thats it..kinda like real radio..? If people see the play list, they might decide upfront weather they will listen or not and you will lose listeners. Active DJs and requests would keep the station alive..not nifty bots in arenas that could be abused.. For requests, all you need is for the DJ and listeners to join a chat channel.. You say "Can you play Stairway to Heaven?" and the DJ decides if they take requests or not.. no !browse or !request or any fancy queue-lists, why make something more complicated than it needs to be? it's radio, not a jukebox.. However.. not to totally bash the idea.. bot controlled radio would be usefull when theres no DJ to host a show. But then why listen in the first place.. just pop a CD in the drive or whatever.
CRe Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Players:!request DJ:!next !list so it would be the player would request a song and the dj would do !next to go by order.
