So this is how they honor long time employees, or ones who got raises for hard work/merit/cost of living.

The following is a quote from a press release dated March 28, 2007.

"The company has completed a wage management initiative that will result in the separation of approximately 3,400 store !@#$%^&*ociates. The separations, which are occurring today, focused on !@#$%^&*ociates who were paid well above the market-based salary range for their role. New !@#$%^&*ociates will be hired for these positions and compensated at the current market range for the job."

Common practice in retailship, they live off the profit margins with about 10:1 manager/actual employee ratio, with the managers that are above the managers (esp. The Man™ at the top) making the actuall good money.

Employees are treated as numbers, slaves, not as employees - so the work quality degrades as well.

Eventually, they'll be the ones to pay the price.

I work at a food chain retailer...it's just as !@#$%^&*ed up.

I bet the poor sods who work for Walmart are treated even worse.

Actually, Wal-Mart treats their employees better than many make it sound. But it is such a big corporation, it doesn't have time for bs, so they know they can pull !@#$%^&* and get what they want.

9.50/hr

40hrs a week

Set Schedule of 1 of 3 daily shifts, and 5 days a week with 2 days off.

Not bad for such a !@#$%^&*ty company I'd say. I've almost thought about working there a few times, but eh. Lot of friends have put only 2yrs there and are up to $12 and $13. Even with state minimum wage being $7.93 they're still paying good.

Wal-Mart is a good place to work at.

I Managed a retail store for 4 years while I was in college, and I was making over 40k a year by the end of college, but that is because I wouldn't take the bull!@#$%^&*, and I was a great store manager.

But basically retail is not where you want to be unless you are a teenager and need some money, or you are putting yourself through college.

Except if you really like working with customers and in the retail industry as a whole. Then be sure you know what you are worth to a company.

Edit: No offense intended to anyone who is currently working in retail, or who enjoys their retail job.

Get them to make a WalMart in Israel. laugh.gif

Trust me, Israel doesn't want a walmart. Walmart may be good to employee's, but they are small store killers.
