🜲 PoLiX Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 So this is how they honor long time employees, or ones who got raises for hard work/merit/cost of living. http://www.!@#$%^&*ociatedcon..._employees.html The following is a quote from a press release dated March 28, 2007. "The company has completed a wage management initiative that will result in the separation of approximately 3,400 store !@#$%^&*ociates. The separations, which are occurring today, focused on !@#$%^&*ociates who were paid well above the market-based salary range for their role. New !@#$%^&*ociates will be hired for these positions and compensated at the current market range for the job." Gravitron Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Common practice in retailship, they live off the profit margins with about 10:1 manager/actual employee ratio, with the managers that are above the managers (esp. The Man™ at the top) making the actuall good money.Employees are treated as numbers, slaves, not as employees - so the work quality degrades as well.Eventually, they'll be the ones to pay the price. ★ Admiral Kirk Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Hence why I refuse to work at large companys ^^. The pay isnt always as good at smaller companys, but at least you have a better chance of avoiding the bullsh*t. ^^ - Programmer of Many SS Related Apps- Former Owner of MetalGear CTF- http://kirk.sscentral.com
Gravitron Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 I work at a food chain retailer...it's just as !@#$%^&*ed up.I bet the poor sods who work for Walmart are treated even worse. "The true measure of a man is how he treat someone who can do him absolutely no good."- Samuel Johnson
🜲 PoLiX Posted April 3, 2007 Author Report Posted April 3, 2007 Actually, Wal-Mart treats their employees better than many make it sound. But it is such a big corporation, it doesn't have time for bs, so they know they can pull !@#$%^&* and get what they want. 9.50/hr40hrs a weekSet Schedule of 1 of 3 daily shifts, and 5 days a week with 2 days off. Not bad for such a !@#$%^&*ty company I'd say. I've almost thought about working there a few times, but eh. Lot of friends have put only 2yrs there and are up to $12 and $13. Even with state minimum wage being $7.93 they're still paying good. NBVegita Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 (edited) Wal-Mart is a good place to work at.  I Managed a retail store for 4 years while I was in college, and I was making over 40k a year by the end of college, but that is because I wouldn't take the bull!@#$%^&*, and I was a great store manager.  But basically retail is not where you want to be unless you are a teenager and need some money, or you are putting yourself through college. Except if you really like working with customers and in the retail industry as a whole. Then be sure you know what you are worth to a company. Edit: No offense intended to anyone who is currently working in retail, or who enjoys their retail job. Edited April 3, 2007 by NBVegita
Gravitron Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Get them to make a WalMart in Israel. "The true measure of a man is how he treat someone who can do him absolutely no good."- Samuel Johnson
MikeTheNose Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Get them to make a WalMart in Israel. Â Â Trust me, Israel doesn't want a walmart. Walmart may be good to employee's, but they are small store killers. - MikeTheNose- Subspace Central Network BanG Administrator-------------------------------------"I have never wavered in my commitments to this zone and I am certainly not doing so now."Â Â You just did.
