»freakmonger Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 What are they? I'll tell you mine after I see the first post (i'm going to win this topic I bet.) If it is opinions then there are no right/wrong win/lose. So you can't "win" a topic on opinions Meaning of life. Only one thing is certain in life....death
jacob hunter! Posted March 27, 2007 Author Report Posted March 27, 2007 ahhh I ment by there being opinions say like the political thread. It's just a matter if you know your opinions better to win a debate. ok going to wait a bit till atleast 5 more people have replied to this thread be for making a proper opinion.
Gravitron Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 The meaning of life?Nothing. You suffer, you die. What you do in between is upto you.
Swift Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Attractions version of the meaning of life is to sit and wait, watching to get as many requested posts before telling us that is the meaning of life. To have others post in an irrelevant topic that'll mean nothing to us at the end of the day. Basically boiling down to him proving that he has in some way manipulated people to do just what he asked. Crazy, I know.

Muskrat Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 The meaning of life is not something that could ever be universally defined. It's what it means to you. Some possible theories are that humans were planted on earth by other beings, and the resulting myths about gods are from extremely distant memories of this. See Chariots of the Gods for more. Anyways, I think much better questions would by Why do we live? and How should we live? For both, I rather like to think of the pursuit of human excellence in the body and soul, creating a kind of harmony. From here, one should look to possibilities in death: 1. non-existence like endless dreamless sleep, which doesn't sound too bad to me. 2. Some kind of after life where you may encounter other who have died before you. This also sounds good to me, no matter where it is. I was expecting a lot of "42"s when i clicked on this, and was surprised to see none.
MikeTheNose Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 The Meaning Of Life: To Die. 42! Hitchhiker.
Slipped Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Life is all about money. Nearly everything in life revolves around money. Why do you go to school? To get an education for college. Why do you go to college? To train for a job to make money. Why do you get a job? To get money. You get money, you spend it on things you need to make more money. I'm not saying that I believe the money is the 'meaning of life'. It isn't to me, I believe there is more to life than that. I want to actually have a little bit of fun in life.
Muskrat Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 Why do you go to college? To train for a job to make money. This is a pretty horrible fallacy and shows that have either not been to college, flunked out, or went to a really crappy school. I'd say pretty much the opposite. An education, in college or just in life experience, is really probably one of the things I would call closest to the meaning of life. Education gives us wisdom and wisdom is "the art of living well."

Education gives us wisdom and wisdom is "the art of living well."I'm in college right now, and I'm going to a fairly decent university (great place, I just hate the location). I do agree with the point you made. An education is one of the most imortant things in life. Although, I wasn't speaking really from my own opinions, just from my experiences. The majority of people go to college so that they can have the education and experience needed to get a job to make those few extra bucks. Just the way I see it, anyway.
Cancer+ Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 Why do you go to college? Education gives us wisdom and wisdom is "the art of living well." So you're saying that if you go to college, you aren't expecting a good job? Why pay thousands of dollars just for "knowledge" This knowledge you can learn on the internet, other people, experience, books, T.V. You pay thousands of dollars for in return, make thousands of dollars. So you go to college to get knowledge so you can use that knowledge to make money.
jacob hunter! Posted March 28, 2007 Author Report Posted March 28, 2007 wow... base you opinion off of 42... wtf is that? some movie? Anyways I'm not asking you what other people think about the meaning of life is like muskrat you said ( then said right after that your actual opinion) I'm asking WHAT YOU THINK BTW. I personally think life is all about.. YOU. IT is YOU who loves someone ( if you have someone you love) It is YOU who does anything. and it will always be about YOU. I don't get why some reASSS stated such lowly posts to refer as meaning of life to be about sex or money..... thats really called consume/transfer energy and matter. I think emotion is also called energy so for as me digging into deeper thought here, It really does not come down to You but to ENERGY!. Everything you do is about ENERGY and YOU are energy..... omg wait... why can't i combine those too. hmmm LOL i have to think here... lol I guess it could be jsut you and energy but meh w/e. I hope everyone is getting what i'm saying if not your posts will help me further revise my post
Dav Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 depends how you look at it as well. From a purely biological point of view the meaning of life is to reproduce. Personally i like to think we have transended that somehow.
Drake7707 Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 not following on the 42 part, whats that o_O ? biological: reproducepsychological: experience & satisfaction
Samapico Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 The answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything... You have to see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy... even if the !@#$%^&*le sounds like it sucks, it does not.1- You'll understand 422- It's awesome
