hiya gb here. Heres a suggestion to HS. hear me out:

 

make sharks attachable to other sharks.

 

why?

 

first off sharks have been known to be the weakest ship. No bombs, High item delay, No mines etc. Also the fact they have the least amount of given energy and high ship startoff price. No wonder this ship is highly unpopular.

 

Although the shark is the most agile ship, one random thor or tacnuke destroys it immediately. Warbirds have almost the same manvuering ability w/ abilty to buy bombs/ mines and higher amount of energy.

 

How would giving sharks the ability to attach to other sharks solve this disadvantage?

 

first off it would allow new players the ability to attach to each other without a lanc. this would give them a greater possiblty in attacking bases and being successful. Also this would introduce the ability to lag attach. if you dont know what lag attach is, it is basically like anti death except its attaching off other players. It requires skill, teamwork and is not easy. (check extreme games or fusion (i helped develop fusion=])) At the moment HS flagging is just about money. Who can afford items/ and Ad and who cant. This would bring a whole new perspective to flagging. It would allow players with less money to master the skill and allow compe!@#$%^&*ion.

 

Right now, nobody uses shark. This change would bring up the shark population.

 

Heres a quick list of advantages:

-allows new/ poor players to attack bases without a lanc

-allows new compe!@#$%^&*ion for flags

-creates a new flagging system which introduces skill instead of item spam abilities

-gives vets a new way to flag (from experience, I have found vets are bored of flagging and do not have to try to defend the base while newer players struggle and end up allowing vets to stack bty which leads to increased money)

-promotes sharks

-may give HS more population due to lag attaching skill (both zones with this concept have high population compared to HS).

 

I suggest we try this concept for a week or so and see how the zone likes it. Lag attaching isn’t easy. Even in extreme games and fusion only experience players know how to use this ability. Yup well that’s my idea. Toodles.

Um....I would like to point some problems I see with your idea.

 

Shark cost 7.5k to buy which new players doesnt start off with so they will usually have a jav or wb. When they get some amount of money, they will probably spent it on a flech/fusion reactor/ion drive. The problem right here is new players wont save up to invest in a shark cause simply it cost alot while they can use that money to upgrade their initial ship instead.

 

Since a shark can be taken out easily with 1-2 thors, giving them the ability to attach to each other will just make them die faster. Due to shark not having summon, you have to manually attach which drains urs hp and that alone makes you so much easier to kill.

 

To make ur idea work shark will need a much lower purchase cost and still and you need people to play with sharks to begin with.

if shark could att to other sharks, thors killing them one hit wouldnt matter.

 

thats what lag attaching is for..

 

the whole point is to die so someone can "lag attach" on to you, and then the person who lag attaches on burst, reps , and dies so the previous person can attach on. It's like antideath except requires teamwork.

rc, if you saw players good at lag attaching, get through vets bases like a breeze, i think you'd at least reconsider and try using shark.

 

hmm just a suggestion. i dont see what the big deal is. nobody uses shark anyways.

Fixes to shark:

 

-Increase Burst shrapnel/speed (NOT like it was with the old settings, when everyone bought it for the burst)

-Give it mines

=allow mines to take little nrg on shark only

-Faster recharge

-double barrel guns, not single

reason for edit--- to add this:

maybe you could make it the size able to fit through small cracks... although that might be a rlly bad idea (like in base 5)

Really, the shark isnt a scout ship, but i have tried in center using flechette gun on it. It's actually pretty well, if you can aim and dodge. A good sharker wont ever be hit, but this thing still needs improvements. I still like the Shark attach to shark idea, what a fun way to base, and turret! The shark's small energy makes turreting definitely NOT overpowered, especially if only other sharks can attach. Is it even possible for settings to make a shark attach to a shark only?

Yea it wouldnt, I was just trying the shark when there was 10 or so ppl playing center with no turret :(

I have icefire+man fins,and I was moving abit faster than a spider using retro rockets...while both of us were using afterburners.....which is kinda stupid.

i love the idea of the shark being able to fit through the cracks in the base. It also needs either better guns\mines\bombs\burst. the reason i didnt buy a shark is because it is easy to thor, one gun pod, slow item usage (from what i heard), and no bombs.

after the reset, i saw 2 sharks. one was cp who somehow is addicted to them, and i forget the other one. the shark would be bought ALOT more if the price was reduced to a 3500 buy price. that would set a level between wb\jav-spdr\levi

after the reset, i saw 2 sharks. one was cp who somehow is addicted to them, and i forget the other one. the shark would be bought ALOT more if the price was reduced to a 3500 buy price. that would set a level between wb\jav-spdr\levi

 

I was the other shark. I sold it, because it sucks. I would constantly get raped by turrets and stray bombs, and it was very hard to get kills.

 

I was thinking the other day, how would a SHREDDER shark do? A thin line of bullets from a lil' ship, that would be cool and at least original.

 

Also, I thought a l3 mining system usable for sharks would give them use too, something to make it different than every other ship, and maybe useful.

The shark reminds me of the lanc in the (dead) zone that I staff in, SWZ. It was smaller than most ships but can't hold any kind of fight because of how weak it's arsenal was.

 

For HS, the shark needs some sort of benefit that makes it unique. Being small is nice and all, but having no significant offensive or defensive capabilities quickly tarnish the 'bitty' advantage.

 

Some changes that can probably fix this are:

* Double barreled guns. Should be a simple fix that can easily augment this ship's offensive ability.

* Some sort of bomb, or even mines. Some sort of heavier weapon would also boost it's attraction to players.

* More accessibility to items. It just seems the shark is screwed on many points for what it can buy.

* Higher recharge. Although higher energy would be fine alternative, a good recharge would be more 'fitting' for a smaller ship such as this.

I agree with a lot of what other people are saying.

Yes, sharks attaching to sharks would be very cool. something similar to a summoner for sharks would be good.
