PoLiX Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Before I open up the test forum to you guys for the future SS RPG viewing, I have a few questions... At the moment I dropped Siege and Fortification upgrades. I don't see many people doing it when I look through members. Covert Levels, does anyone upgrade them and do you notice any gain from them? If so, any suggestions for level tweaks? Otherwise, I think I have the settings tweaked perfectly, and I'll open the forum for you guys to check things out. I just have to make the new ship images, thanks to syrus for the original, and make icons for lvl4 bombs and bullets. It looks pretty sweet so far, I think you guys will enjoy it.
Samapico Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 attack and defense upgrades are a good thing actually... I had them all upgraded very soon in the gameI was disappointed that there was only 10 levels though... imo noone should be able to reach all the max things (not too soon, at least)... Cause when everyone is maxed out at the top of the scale, it gets boring and pointless.
tcsoccerman Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 i agree even though i don't play as intenly as anyone else here lol.
PoLiX Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 Just some previews: The Ships - 5 choices (Old School) The AttackWeapons The Defensive Weapons Spy and Sentry Weapons/Defenses
Aileron Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Covert levels are important. Infact, when there isn't a max, its the second most imporant stat after UP. Wheras offense/defense tech adds a +25%, each covert level upgrade doubles the effectiveness of both spies and sentries. Ofcourse, covert is like offense and defense. You need a soldier and a weapon. However, level n covert multiplies the effectiveness of the spy by 2^n. It's hard to win a long term war with someone if he has better covert - he'll sab the !@#$%^&* out of you. Furthermore, you don't know what the results of any of your attacks is going to be beforehand, whereas he can do precision strikes. With covert doubling spy and sentry, if he has two spy levels over you, you have to train four spies for every one of his to keep up, which is !@#$%^&* near impossible to do, unless you either upgrade your covert and even the score, or happen to have a much bigger UP. I for one had my covert level maxed out at 10 by the end of the first week. Oh, about those ships...isn't the Javelin supposed to have 30% bonuses to offense and defense? After playing in 17th Parallel for so long, I never thought I would ever type these words: Don't nerf the Javelin.
PoLiX Posted March 23, 2007 Author Report Posted March 23, 2007 http://www.sscentral.com/test_forums/ I re-install it like once a month, so feel free to register and check things out. The Armory is kind of buggy as I'm working on doing mods to it, like trying to limit max turns, etc. But it'll give you guys an idea of what is coming so far.
