DVD Ripper

Heya,

 

Does anyone know of a good, free program that will rip a DVD Movie on your computer?

I d/l'ed dvd-cloner III from a file sharing program and it works great.

I use a registered copy of Magic DVD Ripper, works very well! If you have a SATA harddrive, the better.

 

EDIT :: Bleh, it has a 30-day trial or something.

Im wanting to rip and convert it to like AVI or MP(E)G format or something like that, fyi.

Magic DVD Ripper can do VCD, SVCD, AVI, WMV, iPod, and PSP ripping. DivX and a bunch of other codecs are some other available options in this neat little program that you can use to rip your DVDs at. I think region-free ripping is also supported or something. Aye.

If you want/need an alternative; I use "DVDdecrypter" for ripping, and "AutoGK" for converting. Both free of charge I believe.

By the way, just wondering, does anyone know one that will convert DAT --> MPEG, that is, VCD format into MPG format? Just wondering, because I haven't been able to find one. Does any of the above programs do this?

MPlayer should be able to play DVD movies (drag and drop the right files from the DVD, eh?). I've played some movies off of MPlayer by dragging one of the files from whatever folder on the disc to my MPlayer shortcut.

dat? what kind of dumb format would use dat? dat is so generic... and stands for DATA , not anything close to video...
