Nokia Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 (edited) Is there one for linux, or does priitk's one run reliably in WINE? I remember that if the directory server went down for a short period the zones stop updating themselves to it. is that true? or just my imaginationI could definitely run one, I got a static IP and all that good stuff. my server doesnt go down much. but sometimes the line kind of ASSS up. it comes and goes though, I could be on for a month without any glitch and then one day it will run like !@#$%^&*, constantly reconnecting and that. I havnt been following the development of directory servers the past few years hehe Edited March 9, 2007 by Nokia *ASSS Userguide
Hakaku Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 There are currently two functional directory servers, playsubspace.com and sscentral.sscuservers.net . The second being run by Priitk / SSCouncil, and the first is independantly run by Doc Flabby (using a modified version of Catid's biller, running off a Linux server). The problem with running a biller such as priitk's, is that it requires all zones to add the directory to their server.ini and Priitk's is closed-source. Or by running other ones such as Catid's (if I'm correct), they can also get information from a second directory. But if that second directory goes down, all the zones listed on yours will go down too unless they have you on their server.ini . Anyway, hope this was helpful. But you should talk to Doc Flabby for more info. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/zacinu/SubSpacebannt2.pngPSPACE (SourceForge) - Alternative client (source) to Continuum
