nebulou Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 i was wondering why so many items have ship restrictions. i think there should be less restrictions, so there would be more variety between ships of the same type. or, increase the amount of items by duplicating and tweaking current items. ex: overthruster ( -1 speed, +4 rotation, +4 thrust )overthruster variant ( -1 speed, +3 rotation, +5 thrust ) and instead of showing items not available for your current ship, they could be hidden so the menu wouldnt be huge. Bomook Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 and instead of showing items not available for your current ship, they could be hidden so the menu wouldnt be huge.I agree with this (Items that require more experience than the player has should also be hidden). Doing ?buy in spec would show everything, so people don't get confused, however. On one hand, having items be more inclusive may make ships more diverse, but would reduce the distinction between the different ships. So I'm not really for or against that suggestion. Quote
Dr Brain Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 It might make sense to change some of the item's ship requirements, but most of them are pretty good. Quote
»D1st0rt Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 It's bad to hide them based on exp because then people won't know how much they need, or what else they can get. Having them in red is good Quote
11___________ Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 I agree with the hiding, but the different items distinguish different ships. Quote

Having them in red is good One nice thing you could add: you know when you type ?buy you see list of categories. Well, if you have no money or exp to buy ANYTHING from a particular category, it should display in red and not green (this won't stop me from typing ?buy to see all items in red), but it'll be a hint for me not to bother going to that category in case I just want to see what I can buy. *rc 1223* Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 I AGREE WITH D1 SAYING THAT THEY WOULD NOT KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY THEY NEED BUT I AGREE WITH 2D BECAUSE I HATE TYPE ?BUY CATEGORY THAT I CANT BUY ANYTHING IN AND I THINK U SHOULD PUT IT IN RED LOL Quote
Suicide_Run Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 Wat D1 said is right, just make ?buy show wat ur current ship can buy with or without meeting the requirements. IMO, if it takes too much time trying to change how the items show up when you do ?buy. It would be better if brain worked on more important things in his agenda unless he feels this is very high on the list @.@ Quote
Deathmonger Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 I think it's fine how it is since stuff u can't buy is in bright red. Quote
shot_237 Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 about message length,I think ?buy is ok. hiding is not really needed.?shipstatus becomes too long for well upgraded ship. Quote
2d spaceship gamer Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 Maybe make a new command ?shipitems that would show the first half of ?shipstatus (your items) but not the second half (your properties). Vast majority of times I use ?shipstatus I just want to see what I have, not the exact technical specifications (for which I'd rather use ?iteminfo one by one anyways, because the current ?shipstatus doesn't tell me WHAT item modifies WHAT property). So yea, make a ?shipitems command which just shows me what I want to see and only uses half the space. Quote

11___________ Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 is there some way to make a new window come up when ?shipstatus or something like that is typed, because it usually gets lost in chat Quote
