Why not make some more seeing as there aren't that many thrusters... The more of every item put into the game the more diversity and thus the more depth? (of course it'd take alot of time)

Anyways, here you go!

 

Type: Sublight Drive

Hyper Drives

Drives built for hyperspace travel providing faster HTs at a small cut to thrusters (compared to ion)

 

Type: Utility

Inertial Breaks

Shift stops (instantly) the user rather than speeding them up or increasing thrusting capability

 

Type: Brick

Displacer

Grants 4 bricks that have a 1x1 size

 

Type: Sublight Drive

Minithrusters

Minithrusters are small and thus add more room for another utility but on the downside they provide no thrust or speed advantages

I said some of these already in another post =/

 

Type: Armor

Bio Armor

Increase all bullet dmg by like 15%

Increase bomb dmg by 7.5%

+1 Recharge

+1 Energy

 

Type: Armor

Force Field

Reduce all bullet dmg by 15%

Reduce bomb dmg by 7%

Reduce Shrap dmg by 50%

Reduce Burst dmg by 20%

Increase EMP Time by 50%

-2 Energy

-1 Recharge

 

Type: Field

Explosive Ammo

Make it shoot bombs instead of bullets but at a much slower rate. But the field can be either on your freq or on a seperate freq

 

Type: Field

Suicide Bomb

Make a field that is directly over you and shoot weak bombs w/ shrap at you till you die. Makes massive amounts of shrap fly around.

 

Type: Alien Technology/Field

Distortion Launcher/Field

You gotta buy an ammo for each use. On use, it causes everyone in a 25 tile radius or so, have a lvz that blocks their view for a few seconds.

 

Type: Gun

Back Gun

Shoots bullets backward. To be used against people whos chasing you.

 

Btw BlueWyvern, the item about converting sublight drives would be a converter and the Inertial Breaks would be a sublight drive cause it changes the drive instead of an utility

I agree w/ the following:

  • Hyper Drives
  • Inertial Breaks
  • Explosive Ammo - maybe....
  • Force Field

I don't agree with the following (and why):

  • Displacer - encourages BWing
  • Minithrusters - make it so it gives you a minimal adjustment (+) to the thrust/speed and that would be fine
  • Back Gun - just fly backwards....
  • Distortion Launcher/Field - just make flashbangs again...
  • Suicide Bomb - you're kidding right?
  • Bio Armor - seems like it gives you too much

Thats good news brain, i like things balanced =p

 

I said about the distortion launcher thingy cause flashall...basically flashes all and distort only does it to a small area. You can make flashall more expensive and distort cheaper. Like wallbombers/flankers can distort the attacker or defender to help the other person instead of affecting everyone. And yea i was just joking around w/ the suicide bomb thingy blum.gif

Weee I was interrupted in the making of this post... It was incompletely, allow me to continue:

Ion Afterburners

Prizes 3 rockets, each weaker than a regular rocket

 

Type: Bombs

Spread Bombs

Bombs that do very little damage but have ALOT of shrapnel

 

Type: Guns

Impact Cannons

Near-zero range rapid fire blue guns, ramming weapon?

Everything looks pretty good. And while I don't think the sublight drives are so much a problem in terms of diversity as the all-purpose quantum reactor, new ideas are always good smile.gif.

 

I don't like the displacer though. Brickwarping combined with guaranteed prizing of bricks is an exploit of the game. We should be discouraging it, if anything. I would not mind it if the displacer is made to be a shark-exclusive item, and antideath bricks eliminated. Getting instantly knocked out of a base by someone who's completely invisible is one of the most game breaking things ever.

 

Also, unless the spread bombs are coupled with either ridiculously high energy cost, or a slow rate of fire, they would be extremely overpowered in a base, as a single falcon missile spammer can already flood the area with shrapnel.

More items for you all to discuss.

 

Type: Ship

Devastator

A levi hull, the devastator variant offers more recharge, more hit points, but a greater drain from cloaking and a fatal cut to thrusters.

 

(Are ship varients possible? I will think up more if it's do-able)

 

Type: Guns

Energy Mines

Long lasting blue guns that have no or near-zero initial gun thrust (They stand still), fire rapidly and cost very little energy.

 

Type: Alien Technology

Drain Plating

External plating absorbing the impact damage of bombs but amplifying the damage of guns by 200%

(The bomb damage being negative? Zero if not)

 

Type: Reactor Plants

Exotic Matter Reactor

Runs on Exotic Matter thus killing the shield strength and recharge rate of the vessel. However, advantages of Exotic Matter include a tremendous decrease in weapon and bomb firing costs.

the Drain plating is useless because we have armor that can do that kind of thing for us

 

gun idea sounds interesting, but i dont think ide use it

I think the shock matrix is as far as we need to go with bomb armor. On paper, the Drain armor is easily counterbalanced by its weakness to bullets, which are much more common, however, in reality, this armor is game breaking because it offers turrets near-immunity to damage.

 

Good ideas, though smile.gif.

Just give levi speciality bombs that only levi can use. Something like a lvl 2 bomb with 3-4 shrap but higher nrg usage. Personally i use levi when im bored and have nothing to do cause it was post to be a good linebomber but then terr kinda replaced it since terr has bullets and levi doesnt really have much bullets.

Acidic Weapons

Gun or bombs that actually damages armor (increases the amount of damage taken from weapons by 0.1 until respawn)

(I dunno, it could be a terr only weap or something, if it's even possible)

 

Type: Guns

Rail Gun

Has a very fast initial speed, low rate of fire multifire weapon. L3 Guns (Slow rate of fire like the old beam array but alittle slower)

 

Type: Bombs

Photon Cannon

Extremely slow bomb delay, yellow bombs without bounce. massive amount of shrap (15 or higher?), very high bomb speed but only available to terrs and levs, no prox fuse. (It might actually make the terr useful)

 

Type: Sublight Drives

Omni Thrusters

Equips the vessel with directional omni thrusters, these thrusters pull the ship sides ways (up for left, down for right for example) when you thrust instead of up and down, unfortunately you can only thrust sideways because there is no room for afterburners on traditional thrusters. +0 speed, +1 thrust.

Well the good thing about an "ad-storm" is you can see if ur current ship is suitable for rushing I would assume.......

 

I think we should have a weight system where all item cost weight and theres some items that increase your respawn time. So big, strong and rich ships take longer to spawn then new/weaker ship layouts =p

Ya, I like the longer respawn for bigger ships. Leave that anhilated turret hanging there for a few seconds while their lanc spams /?summon >:D

 

Oh, and this was mentioned somewhere by someone, so the idea isnt mine.

A new sublight drive that has 1 rot, speed, and thrust, and slows u down lots when using afterburners, BUT the afterburners increase your recharge rate when you are using them.

Energy Transfer

A utility that gives +1 or +2 recharge for all nearby friendly ships.

Only lanc can have this item and the recharge bonus does not apply to the owner.

This item is useful for turreting & line bombing group, but takes out 1 utility spot.

 

Tractor Beam

A utility that decrease speed and thrust of enemy ships in the area of effect.

Owner of this item has penalty on recharge, as a cost.

Only big and slow ships may have this item. (i think terrier and lanc)

 

* These 'area effect' is :

1. temporary. If target ships move out of the area, they recover original status.

2. not !@#$%^&*ulative. More ships with these item does not make the effect stronger.
