If you don't fit in, sooner or later they'll drop you for whatever reason. If everyone there likes you they'll hire you even if you're a completly incompetant and got fired previously for abuse of powers. i don't know for sure, but i think most of the upper staff now are the remains of the people who were the ERs/mods back in the day. and a few of them know eachother irl, but they still do a good job at what they are supposed to do. what they're "supposed" to do is perhaps debatable. edit: 100 posts. booyaa. ER>`s are the main hosters thats true,but it still dont mean they should do all the hosting,you never been staff i asume and dont know how tired you can get after a few hours of hosting and if there are no other ER> online or any mods who wants to take over you will continue to whine about your ?host request gets ignored.and i care if mods dont host cause if you dont host you forget how to host.Mods are suposed to be abel to host like all reg events + leagues so its importan they continue to host so they wont forget.Maybe that dont matter to you DKA but it matters for the the zone the players that playes events and leagues that staff can host. 000 i dont know why you keep talking about this cause i already told you. pernille Quote

The main point of a ER is to host events that being in there name EVENT Referee, so who cares if a mod doesnt host many, thats what we have the ER's for, and considering there is about 10-15 and one almost always on, the mods shouldnt have to ALL the time which is what your partially suggesting :/ pern reads forums every day roach, and just cuz someone doesn't post doesn't mean they don't get an opinion in the matter. Look at me, i have lil posts (70 or so) yet I read forums everyday, I just don't reply to all of them. We dont have 10-15 ER's you turd, officially we have 9. Of those 9, only 6 are seen daily, and 4 of those 6 are doing a good job. We have 9 Mods too, and of those 9, 5 are ever seen, and all 5 do their job correctly. Now considering we have different staff from around the world, not all the ER's and Mods are on at the same time, thus limiting who we have to host during the day and evening. So if you think ER's should host everything, thats 4 ER's we have that do their job, and what do the mods do? This is why Mod's are sposed to host, otherwise they have NOTHING TO DO. Very few mods are involved with a league(s), in fact, unless they are pretty much begged to host a league event, most mods dont care. Mod isn't just a fun time of laying back and banning roach, you have to still "work" , otherwise you get canned. Everyone works as a team on staff, the ER's and Mod's cover hosting, while the Smod+ cover more detailed area's in the zone (ie. leagues, staff, dev, etc). Yet still, you'll see an Smod or two host events when they get bored. Everyone thinks they know what staff does but unless you've had staff experience before you really know nothing. Quote

Tempest Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 The problem with relying on ERs to be the sole hosts in the zone comes down to experience and numbers. An ER who hosts regularly will be promoted, and, under the proposed system, won't have to host anymore. Thus, a new ER would have to be hired, retrained, and thus, the cycle continues. What we eventually end up with is a constant inflow of ERs and a huge base of mods who do nothing but sit in spec and answer the occasional ?cheater. To add more experience to the entire hosting team and to ensure mods actually serve some purpose (excepting the few ?cheater and ?help messages we get, which, frankly, could be dealt with by no more than 2 or 3 mods), mods are made to host. Think of ER as a 'probation' period wherein one learns the skills to host, and moderator as actually applying those skills. Quote

That to me makes a WHOLE lot more sense than Blue Silvers entire input, and makes sense although should it be labeled a moderator then? Thats like me working in my co op. I'm a reciepient, a small guy compared to my superviser, but coming form my Infantry Experiance as a minor staffer there, mods did a -*BAD WORD*- of alot more than in 17th. And Blue what you stated was in my opinion -*BAD WORD*-. It means your hiring people to do -*BAD WORD*- all! Only 4 of the ER's are doing a good job? Well get the others doing stuff otherwise its a waste of time. Got 9 mods which are only there because in 17th they are only people proven to be good ER's, then why the -*BAD WORD*- are they mods? Get rid of the crappy Er's, drop the majority of mods to ER's and theres your problem done and dusted. -*BAD WORD*- if zones like TW can make those things work they must be doing something right! And the more I see pern type things i'm against, the less I see of her as a able staffer, sorry but its true. When I was a niave newb alot of people, especially pern seemed to be doing a bloody good job yet now I understand it better it seems not! Quote

The problem with slacker mods is the host like -*BAD WORD*- when they are ER's, then when they get bang and are all happy, they just kinda... die.... And how can you say pern's not doing a good job? You have NO IDEA what you are talking about, cuz you have NO IDEA what goes on in upper staff. You are stating your opinions on the outside looking in, and really, have no idea what your talking about. Quote
