Aileron Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 I've noticed on TV that some government agency did a study. Apparently, they have found that children less than the height of 4 ft 9 inches should use a carseat. I'm just wondering what they were smoking. There are quite a few adults who are shorter than 4' 9". Should a 40 year old woman be sitting in a carseat when she's driving to pick her kids up from school? These studies annoy me. Why? I'm a math major. These studies are carried out by ppl who have BS in Math and Statistics, and those are the types who get a lot better grades than me. I'm just saying colleges should include common sense abilities when they hand out grades, because at the moment a lot of these ppl are so smart that they are stupid.

Dav Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I have often wondered where this idea came from. I know it is an EU standard that has been adopted now. All seems like nanny state to me.
Witchie NL Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 4'9" how much is that in cm?Im 175cm and im not even close to a car seat.
AceSpades Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 i thought there is a height and/or weight limitit was 4'9" and/or lbs...or something like that Even if there was a weight limit, I'm pretty sure an adult of < 4"9 is going to weight less than pounds.
NBVegita Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 My biggest question would be where would you find a car seat to fit an almost 5 foot tall person in?
The Cubbies Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Maybe the midgets could just equip their cars with ejection seats instead? But seriously, it does seem ridiculous. If there is really a problem with basic seatbelts for a person that big maybe some people should just think about making better seatbelts.
ThunderJam Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 4'9" how much is that in cm?Im 175cm and im not even close to a car seat.1 inch = 2.54 cm. 1 foot = 12 inches4'9'' = 57 inches = 144.8 cm And the world says America is ignorant... we know your system but you don't know ours just fooling.
Samapico Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 maybe because your system is outdated and completly dumb? (I know your system actually... being from canada, way too many people still use that archaic random-based system) also, might want to try http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&safe...in+cm&meta= when you need to convert stuff... And that 4'9" thing is just to get some money to insurance companies... like they weren't already getting enough...
