bullet graphics

i suggest that some bullets should be changed to be different colors so that it doesnt look like everyone is using the same guns.

 

example:

 

beam array: pink

phazer: green

disrupter: white

 

the bullets file is small so it shouldnt add that much to download time.

I do think it would be really cool if the disruptor was just black though. People will wonder "wth? what killed me?" It might encourage actually using it, if not just for fun

 

The phaser won't be possible to change though. I'll see what I can do once I get some free time.

Personally I like the colours, as long as the graphics aren't bulky or too hard to see, anything will do.

Salvo is impossible to change, unfortunately. I do plan on making changes to the tacnuke graphics and a few others though. Bombs are more time consuming, since instead of merely changing the color as with bullets, I'd have to model and render the graphics.

Yeah , bullets are easier since they're separated into so many categories. As far as bombs go, only Tacnuke, Stingray Torpedo, and EMP Shockwave are customizable. I could make custom space mines if HE missiles are prohibited from laying mines.

 

Also, I'm not sure if I even will make a tacnuke graphic. Continuum doesn't support directional bombs, so I can't make it look like a missile, but more of a giant metal sphere or something

I have no objection to changing the bullet graphics, but I wouldn't be looking for something radically different, just something to help make the distinction bigger. Maybe just a color shift?

 

Bomb graphics are harder, because even though some of them bounce, they turn into normal bombs after their final bounce. I really don't see much point in changing the bomb graphics.

I dont mind changing the bullet gfx but dont make it sparkly or flashy cause i think that will just increase the dl size and may make some people lag in a big firefight

As far as bomb graphics go, I had a cool idea of this lightning orb looking thing for the EMP shockwave. I had the idea of a sputnik-looking thing for space mines, but other than that, those are the only 2 cool graphics for bombs that I can think of.

I think the coolest looking bombs are on SSE NoFear, while the coolest looking bomb explosions are on SSCB Final Revolt. Those would be cool to reuse if their owners aren't jerks about it.

Cool, I'll check it out! I understand if people don't want others using their graphics, though. If it comes down to it, I'll just make a model that's very very similar and render that, as opposed to actually stealing the graphics.

 

EDIT: Thanks for the links, Deathmonger . I actually originally pictured the lightning orb to be more like Scintillating Orb from Neverwinter Nights 2, or the Shadow Witch/Matriarch's attack in Heroes of Might and Magic 5; basically, more orb-ish and condensed, so I won't be doing anything even remotely similar to ripping off the graphics anyways.

disruptor is purple ( super wasnt being used anyway )

The bullets graphics are currently being tested in a private arena. I intend to change the bullets along with the bombs in one update, (and bombs will take a while) so this change won't be happening soon.
