It is fully understood that you may have time difficulties, and as a volunteer zone you !@#$%^&* right may take all the time you need. But even then, setting a deadline (no matter how long) and honoring it beats stretching the rubber day after day. It's much better to say "zone will be ready in a month", but only saying it once, then saying "it'll be ready tomorrow" for 30 times in a row. In any case, good luck with putting it back up. Quote

Probably the most annoying thing about this forum (4th or 5th time I notice it happen) is that people reply to messsages before reading them. If you bother to read as far as line 2, you'd see I fully understand people taking their time in a volunteer zone. I don't blame you if it takes a year. But what I ask is, if it DOES take a year, then SAY it will take a year, rather than keeping stretching it day by day with no definite yes or no. Quote

I never accused Steig or anyone else of lying or not sticking to their word. Chiefly because they in fact never DID make any promises to when the zone will be up. The policy of "it's ready when it's ready", or the policy of simply staying silent on the issue, is very annoying though. Just give a timeframe. If its going to take a long time, just say so, that's better than staying silent. Once agian, I'm not saying anyone didn't honor their word. I'm saying that maybe its a good idea to GIVE one at all (and then, obviously, honor it). Granted, staying silent is better than making a promise and breaking it. But not by much. The best thing to do, though, is let us know what's going on. Come on, it's not like you are dealing with top-secret Area 51 information. If you ran into OS challenge, or account issues, or whatnot, just let us know, keep your own community in the loop, and we will be much more forgiving. If you bother to tell us what's going on (spending 5 mins in 1/2 days is NOT going to ruin the timetable) then it's easy to be patient and understanding. But saying "it's done when it's done, so just wait" is not helpful. Quote

But on ur side 2d, you are right, one should give info that is !@#$%^&*uring and not unless you are sure. I'm sure that steig wouldnt lie, but ppl do make wrong judgements, maybe blech happened and problems came up. I dont make serious posts that often unless its in dev...lol. Quote

It sounds like they had a total server meltdown, and it will be up as soon as possible, and if they had a timeframe they'd tell you. After being wrong the first time I'm sure Steig does not want to offer a new timeframe until the problems are solved. In any case, Steigerwald, the guy footing the bill for the server you addicts are whining about, does not "owe you" a timeframe as though you have some sort of service contract with him. I would appreciate the fact that he is hosting HS at all and chill. Quote
