PoLiX Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Can someone give me a good explination as to why the ISG (and this site) doesn't support non-ssc zones (with exception to Hyperspace)? ISG - non-SSC zones come and go too frequent, and non at the moment are strong/solid enough to last long. I'm not fully into taking the time to keep up with them.the Site - How do we not support non-ssc zones? They just don't ask anything of us, so we don't ask anything of them.
»Maverick Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Polix, if you do can keep up with them (just assume for the moment), would you like if those non-SSC zones are on ISG? I'm thinking in the direction of making an bridge between ISG and the Subspace Statistics which gets the zone's website address from the zone's description. If a zone doesn't provide a website address in their description or the zone is considered dead then it simply isn't listed on the ISG.Goal: minimal to no maintenance required for keeping ISG up to date.

But every SSC zone at some point in time has been involved with SSNet/SSCentral in the years we worked together. I just posted who had had forums, not including who's sites we hosted, who we're involved in keeping our sites updated and news posted, etc. Lot of those zones use to, and would even now take involvement. Yes, they have their own large stable forum systems now, but if I went to them to get actively posted news, or help with content, etc. they would get me someone no questions still. How many non ssc zones forums and sites do we host or have hosted in past year or so? 0. They seem to have no need for us, so why do they worry if our ISG doesn't include them? I'm not going to take the time to keep something updated for zones who don't need us. Just my honest opinion.

How many non-ssc zones know you exist or that they can get help from you? They can't just magically find you. This place isn't really public knowledge to most players. (by you I mean sscentral/ssforum) Maybe you personally don't need to go ask them if they need help. But that doesn't mean someone else wouldn't want to. You are right, many non-ssc zones pop up and leave, but that doesn't mean some wouldn't stick around if given support. If you really wan't this site to be a central for SS, then something should be actively done to include those non-ssc zones. If they say they don't want it, then that's up to them. But you can't say them not asking for help is the same thing when they may not even know help is available.
L.C. Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 so why do they worry if our ISG doesn't include them? But what if we include ISG on the websites of our non-SSC zones and one of those 88x31 advertisements banners somewhere near the top or sidebars of the pages? I'm quite willing to listen to your favors too. I haven't given up on my zone, and I won't ever until Continuum dies. At the moment school is taking a hard turn. It'll only be a few more months until I'm absolutely free again. Still have my zone's website (http://www.jackpotsvs.com/test) and forums (http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/mytemplates/jsvs-wip6-f.gif) to finish up.
