»doc flabby Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 I don't care what happens because I'm here and there. But if you want to "prune the branches" start a revolution or something. Overthrow the council. It already seems like doc flabby and his gang has started doing it. It's going to be extremely hard, but maybe that is what this game needs. Good luck. For the record I think people may have got the wrong idea. I have no interest in "overthrowing" the coucil. I have no interest in the council full stop. My aim is to provide choice. Compe!@#$%^&*ion is good and encorages creativity. If SSC had some compe!@#$%^&*ion the biller technology could/would have been improved substancially from its current state today, we might even be able to have more than 10 chats and a proper ingame email system and scores working.
SVS Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 No amount of compe!@#$%^&*ion is going to cause improvements to the SSC biller. Seeing as how it is a struggle getting an update to the client I strongly doubt Priit will ever update the biller again.
rootbear75 Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 Quit SS let it die in peace. Just because you don't play it anymore you want the whole of Subspace/Continuum to die? That's quite an egoistic at!@#$%^&*ude.yes it is..hmmmm.... are you in any way related to D+?

»freakmonger Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 exactly. The only person who can do anything about that is the person who has the src
»doc flabby Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 You don't need the source to replace the SSC Biller. You would need it to improve/update it.
»freakmonger Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 Yea my post was misleading. What I meant was the only person who could do that was priitk who happens to be the only person with physical access to the biller AND the only person who has the src . Face it, without his cooperation we are screwed. (client/biller wise)
Vivify Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 This is almost a dream, but what if the community got together to release a new online game? Before you say anything, this wouldn't be like one of those huge multi-million dollar budget games, but it would be an addicting, innovative game like Subspace. With all the people that are in this commuinty I'm sure a good, reasonable idea could be thought up. If people are willing and able to do something, it can be done..
»doc flabby Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 communitys can create amazing things. TASpring being one example. http://spring.clan-sy.com/ which is actually better than the commercial game.
Incomplete Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Quit SS let it die in peace. Just because you don't play it anymore you want the whole of Subspace/Continuum to die? That's quite an egoistic at!@#$%^&*ude. That isn't what im saying at all. SS is a dying game, there is nothing that can be done to stop it, technology is improving bringing out better games with more advanced gameplays and better graphics. SS can stay alive forever depending on how long he hordcore fans want to stay because they will probably be the last ones remaining. With all this talk about creating updates and people creating new ideas for new zones just makes it feel like continuum is being dragged through the dirt. If I knew that the development of the game would help continuum then i would contibute whatever skills I have to help but the chances are that it's not going to help. Alot of people on the game are !@#$%^&*heads, there arent many new people because theres no chance of them playing against an expert and playing well. The chances are they will lose and the elite person will talk a load of !@#$%^&* then the new person leaves never to return. The game is basically full of veterans that dont let new people have a chance in winning/playing/enjoying the game. Whats the point in all the struggle? Do any of you still actually enjoy playing this game or is it only an addiction? Games are suppose to be fun, this game was fun years ago but now its just plain boring.
L.C. Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Do any of you still actually enjoy playing this game or is it only an addiction? Games are suppose to be fun, this game was fun years ago but now its just plain boring.Since I'm on dialup, there's nothing better to do any more.
No_Remorse Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 Some vets talk trash simply because they are !@#$%^&*s. If this turns off new players, then they are too easily aggrivated and shouldn't be playing games anyway. Besides, it doesn't take all that long to get better at Subspace. I still lose to *cough*newbs all the time, mostly because I'm a choke artist.
candygirl Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 The only 2 things i don't like about this game is when a newbs call you a newb for using a ship that over powers there ship. And the ones that keep typing ez every time they kill some one.

So don't tell me to leave the game when i already left. I'm not even playing any games anymore since theyre a waste of time.. maybe Free Infantry once in a while... Sure kicks MG's !@#$%^&*...
»SD>Big Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 all i hear is blah blah blah, i'm so much better cause i left, blah blah blah, you should do as i say cause i know best blah blah blah guess what stupids, we're going to keep playing this game cause we enjoy it. when we stop enjoying it, we will stop playing it. if you do not enjoy it, stop playing it. if you do not enjoy it and have stopped playing it and are coming on the forums to let us know, stfu!

I have to write an essay on how the subspace community has turned a novelty game into a cult classic. Really this is !@#$%^&*ing amazing that grown up 13-21 year olds are finding sunday-morning flyer action figure cutouts still so fascinating!
Slipped Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 What's so hard to believe about people liking this game? It's something to do when you're bored. When there isn't anything else to do, what's so wrong with playing a little subspace? Just because it's an old game means it's impossible to be any fun or any enjoyment anymore? If that were the case, then why is Super Mario Bros on the Super Nintendo so fun? It's quite a bit older than this game, yet loads fun to play still.

If that were the case, then why is Super Mario Bros on the Super Nintendo so fun? It's quite a bit older than this game, yet loads fun to play still. It might be fun still for nostalgia's sake.. but you must admit you don't play it every day now do you? (Mario that is)... i'm still confused at how many ppl (vets) still log on to subspace everyday, manage to convince themselves that the game is fun, and decide to belittle newbs at this game.... I mean, logging on once in a while is pretty fun, but everyday is seriously a lot.
Digs Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Ophie, you're an idiot. You are trying to convince yourself that no one still enjoys this game while telling others that they are trying to convince themselves that they do. The irony of that is hilarious when you factor in that your behavior (posting on message boards of a game you no longer play) is more along the lines of an addiction than people logging into a game they still play. People log into Subspace for various reasons, but rest !@#$%^&*ured that which ever reason it is, it is their choice. No one is logging into Subspace because they dislike doing it but feel compelled to simply because they are addicted. As for games being fun only for nostalgic reasons, that couldn't be farther from the truth. I'm pretty sure I would still play NBA Jam on Sega Genesis every single day if I had it. Newer graphics with in depth and detailed game content doesn't always mean a better game. My Xbox 360 has been reduced to the most expensive dvd player I've ever owned. Simplicity goes a long way, and quite honestly, Subspace is rather simple. So don't tell me to leave the game when i already left Back at ya only from the other side of the fence. Don't tell us to stop playing when we are still enjoying the game. Hypocrisy at its finest!
No_Remorse Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 You've got the same preferences as me Digs. My Xbox is a dust collector that get's no use because I have a real DVD player. The thing is, older games still hold their game-play value while modern games are quite entertaining at first, but the gimics grow tiresome quick. Game-play + simplicity = enjoyment. p.s. NBA Jam TE ftw!
Sass Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Yah ophie, maybe it's just time to hang it up for a while man. If you left the game with some decency, you can come back later - even five or ten years from now if you wanted to, and people would still be here (like me i bet, Oh God help me!) and you could have 2d fun, talk to people you knew, etc. I'm here because I like to design in it and I understand all the little things that can be done. On top of that, I couldn't do my design without having those people at the top who fund the servers and keep things together. Overall, no reason to dislike what you were a part of. People will always say mean things - like Ace's hit on OF, but hey, just forget that and be cool.
Samapico Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 I played NHL '07 the other day... AND IT SUCKED BAD (PC version that is), the interface sucked terribly and.. well.. everything sucked. Yeah graphics were nice, but I would still play snes' NHL '96 over that crap.
»SD>Big Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 this thread is way off, but still worth posting in. off to spamstation

My dad plays it online all the time its the ps2 version. I watched him play the other day and it looks cool. The game lobby was crap.
11___________ Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 I can fix this!!! DONT EVER PLAY ANY GAME BECAUSE IT WILL EVENTUALLY DIE!!!!
