PoLiX Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 So, I decided that I'm more tired of having a pos barely running computer than not having new rims and tires for my car. Well, if I upgrade, gonna sell off my old !@#$%^&*, just curious on interest. Sapphire Radeon 9550SE 256mb AGP 8x Video CardPlays a lot of games on actually rather high settings with a low end processor. Quake4, NFSMW, HLF2, BF2, no issues on Med-High settings at 1024x768. 1gb Kingston? PC3200 Ram with Heat Spreader512mb PQI PC3200 Ram512mb PQI PC3200 Ram512mb PQI PC3200 Ram Rhycon 400 or 450watt (Gonna have to tear into it) Power SupplyDynapower 400 watt Power Supply P4 2.4ghz Socket 478 w/ Heatsink - Ran great before upgraded my grandmother's computer, but that was almost 1yr ago, not sure, would sell for next to nothin. 1 Socket 478 Intel Stock Heatsink6 80mm Case Fans - gonna scrap the case, unless anyone really wants it. Probably tons of other !@#$%^&* that'd I could find that'd be useless to me, so no issue unloading. I know I have 2 more power supplies just sittin around, and an old Antec case I bought for $100 like 2 or 3yrs ago. Unreal Tournament 2004 - Pretty much new in box, barely ever playedSimcity 3000 UnlimitedSimcity 4Grand Theft Auto Vice City Yeah, if interest shows, I may dig up some other stuff too.
PoLiX Posted February 1, 2007 Author Report Posted February 1, 2007 What i'm buildingShuttle SD37-P2-BKIntel Pentium D Presler 3.0ghz2x 1gb Kingston DDR2 PC5300eVGA GeForce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express+ Current 80gb Seagate Barracuda SataII HD and Sony DVD Burner Ever since I 1st played on one like 2yrs ago I've always wanted to build a Shuttle XPC. So much power in a small package. I don't need a super computer, so a Pentium D will do me fine. Raw Power (PD) vs Smart Power (C2D), I'm fine with the cheaper Raw. 7600GT should do me fine for the little gaming I do.
Bomook Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 I recommend just buying an E6300 Conroe over the Presler. Superior performance and cooling aside (which I understand is not the primary thing you're going for), it'll cost you only $50 more, but consumes only a fraction of the power, earning that money back in several months. That may be something you would want to keep in mind.
PoLiX Posted February 1, 2007 Author Report Posted February 1, 2007 $50 to me right now is A LOT. And I'd rather get the E6400
»D1st0rt Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 I would LOVE to upgrade my linux box (667MHz, 128 MB Ram -- I think its a PIII), but I'd have to see if what you have could actually be used in this archaic thing
»SD>Big Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 in my experience with form factor pc's... all i can say is make sure its vented well! in the past 2 months i've seen 3 of them suffer heat issues. although the one i did come across that worked well was an XPC and it had a full sized case fan in it. my new pc: asus p5b-deluxe w/wifi appentium d 3.4ghz 2x2mb cache 800mhz bus2gb kingston ddr2 667mhz (in 2 dimms)sapphire x1950xt 256mb ddr3 (it takes up 2 slots and needs a 6 pin power connector)550 watt antec trio250 gb seagate sata (i plan on getting a raptor or something for my system files and plopping data onto the 250gb)
PoLiX Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 Don't get a Pentium D If I actually sell off my old stuff, I'll get a Core 2 Duo.
rootbear75 Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 ill buy UT2k4 off of u you got UT:GOTY edition? we keep losing our cds :/
PoLiX Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 QUOTE(SD>Big @ Feb 1 2007, 03:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>in my experience with form factor pc's... all i can say is make sure its vented well! in the past 2 months i've seen 3 of them suffer heat issues. although the one i did come across that worked well was an XPC and it had a full sized case fan in it.Yeah. Shuttle's are specially designed to handle heat. They come with a special heatsink that blows all the hot air that comes off the cpu right out of the case. 1 fan blows through a heatpiped heatsink into another fan sized to the heatsink and enclosing it blowing the air right out. So the heat that normally comes off the heatsink is greatly diminished. Also, they're designed with the right sized fans, layout, and ventilation to keep it cool. Running it with the cover off the case will actually cause it to heat up, that is how well designed it is. Yeah, I've done a lot of research on em
Mr. Right Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Yeah, Shuttle PCs kick !@#$%^&*. There are two of them (one tower, and the other a G5) at the office I work at, and I like the design and build quality of it.
L.C. Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Hey, I'm interested in buying some stuff from you. 1gb Kingston? PC3200 Ram with Heat Spreader// Eh. I have no idea what PQI is, sounds like it isn't compatible for the average SocketA motherboard. ;_;// Is $20 acceptable to you? 512mb PQI PC3200 Ram// Is $15 acceptable for 1 stick? 6 80mm Case Fans - gonna scrap the case, unless anyone really wants it.// Right here baby! > // Is $10 acceptable to you? // Total is $45, which might be able to cover shipping costs? Do you have PayPal?
»Blocks Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Quit trying to rip Polix off! The first stick of RAM alone is worth $45 I'd say.
jacob hunter! Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 http://dell.merlion.ru/data/products/mobil...ron-6000_v1.JPG Mine!
»D1st0rt Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 I'm gonna look and see what kind of mobo I have this weekend and get back to you
PoLiX Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 Quit trying to rip Polix off! The first stick of RAM alone is worth $45 I'd say. I paid $65 for it probably 3 months ago. So it has almost no use, and I got it super cheap, was normally $85. I was figurin $40 atleast. $15 for the 512 is fine, cause all but 1 are original I bought for the computer, and I bought the other at the end of the summer. The case fans I have no use for, so $10 is totally fine. I'd take $70 for it all, paypal fees and shipping included. !@#$%^&*, never know, I might just throw some other goodies in there with it.
PoLiX Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 ill buy UT2k4 off of u you got UT:GOTY edition? we keep losing our cds :/ No. I only liked UT on XBOX. I thought PC would be cool, but just didn't like it as much, IE: almost unused. Say $8 shipped? Box actually has a decent amount of weight to it cause CDs are in a special holder and stuff inside. Whatever doesn't sell, i'll probably just take down to some computer store in a box, and tell em $20, and it is all theirs.
Wampus Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 I might be interested in a few of these items. I'm running a 2GHz P4E and I have been for a while now. I would love to upgrade a lil'bit. feel free to send a message to me with some details on what you're selling. I'm mostly interested in the RAM and that case you have. As for XPCs, I could take'em or leave'em. They do tend to run hot. I only like tower chasis better for the space. XPCs like those through Shuttle are too crampt.

rootbear75 Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 transaction completed polix...lemme know when u send it...and how you send it (FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL, etc...)
SVS Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Don't get a Pentium D If I actually sell off my old stuff, I'll get a Core 2 Duo. You might as well not buy a new processor instead of buying a P4 D. Pay the 40-50 bucks more and get a Core 2 Duo, you can thank me later.
L.C. Keep the change and go buy a beer. :] How shall we do this? (Private message me instructions?) If and when I do send the money, how will I know for sure that you will actually fulfill your end of the bargain? Just curious and cautious. ;o
L.C. Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 If he doesn't, we all go beat him upOkai, good enough for me. Just waiting for PoLiX to come back online to reply.
