Telson Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Just thought i would throw my 2 cents in before anyone else. I have also added a poll for feedback to aid the staff. Map/Sets: I always thought the map was too big. The sets and the map dont fit well imo. The Map is too open. Granted open space is needed to capture CPs. The Map is an Infantry style layout with Tight Quarter Basing sets. It just does not mix. Its an MG Map with 17th Settings. Either the map needs to be more base like or the sets need to be more of an Infantry Feel. If this zone wants to be successful, it needs to stay away from the familar concept of 17ths Shipset. Otherwise, it will be changing its sets over and over like 17th has done in the past. The Gameplay Concept is Golden. Totally original. If MG had this concept, they'd be more popular than TW. If you took away the gameplay concept, you would have a soccer game in 17th. Not to mention the Graphics were recycled from 17th Parallel. The Complex concept was originally taken from a Team mode used in FPS games. This concept similuates what soliders do in battle to take over territorial checkpoints "Hills". Look at the game Star Wars Battlefront if u dont get it. The ships should be these soliders. This zone will not succeed until it loses its 17th Parallel Identity. Quote
L.C. Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 I liked the zone, though I would love to try it out when there's more than just 2v2 matches. So far I'm unsure of whether the map is too big or not (afterall, the zone is intended for more people, so testing the zone with that "more people" would be more efficient testing to make "accurate comments" on what needs changing). CreatiX Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Hello, im open minded on any shipset changes. But make sure you have read the ship explaination at a1 befor your think of anything. it gives you a much better idea of what i did intend. Important is, that people are easy/fast to kill, and still good to dodge once you gain skill. Also, the ships need to be fast, i want the gameplay to be breathtaking once everyone knows what to do. I wouldnt touch the map for now, it might not be the non-plus-ultra but there are other things that we ned to focus on i think.I dont know what you guys got with those graphics. Thers nothing left from 17th besides the tiles. I planned to have a new tileset done until end of this week.Plus there are and will be updates daily. Also, id be happy about ideas how to advertise the zone. It looks mouth-to-mouth works well, but its nothing we can rely on.so feel free to post your comments. Best Regards,-CreatiX Quote
Telson Posted January 23, 2007 Author Report Posted January 23, 2007 On the Advertising Bid: A good start would be this forum, which u have accomplished.Have your staff mention the zone in their sig. Make sure your zone is listed on all major websites, IE getcontinuum.comand the subspace navbar See if u can get ur zone listed on those "news" sites a few players have. Perhaps an article about ur new zone. What else do they have to talk about Create a zone chat. ?chat=complex Advertise in your own zone with periodical messages.. Quote
CreatiX Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 ill definately take those advices Quote
Tiq Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 I've always thought that Complex has incredible potential. There's just the whole 17th Parallel stigma and what not. Regardless of it's issues, I hope it does well. Quote
Tex Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 This zone will not succeed until it loses its 17th Parallel Identity. Well... the gfx are the same... ship settings are pretty much the same... bots are from 17th... staff is from 17th... this was actually 17th for a while... Don't make me laugh. But I like it... Especially CreatiX... a lot... too bad I quit SS :/ <3 (This was not to bash you telson, don't come kill me) Quote
Manus Celer Dei Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 If you like, you can use the reef settings i made for what was going to be a complex style game in 17th. pm me ingame on on this board if you want a look and see. Quote
RawrGoesTheLion Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Oh goodie a whole year in between posts... Anyways I just looked at the zone and I like it quite a bit. I can't wait to try to play this zone, but it seems like more of a 20 v. 20 type of map with its size and number of points and I don't think it is plausable to play on the map that big with few people, seeing as it will just launch. Not dissing the map, it would be great for when the zone gets big, but lets be reasonable, its a bit to big and may cause people to leave due to hard gameplay. Quote
Telson Posted February 4, 2008 Author Report Posted February 4, 2008 they do or did have a ship warping feature to focus the battling between CPs. lets just hope they refined it. Even with that, the map may be still too big... i haven't actually seen this zone is a long !@#$%^&* time so i could be mistaken. Quote
rootbear75 Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 sigh, with less amount of players, you are only battling between CPs 3, 4, and 5. Quote
PorterW Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 When the Complex came out for that short period of time I fell in LOVE with it. I stopped playing DSB in favor of it. Pros:- Great for a league setup- Pretty good balance between ships- Fast paced Cons, Improvements- Some more balance between ships- A more non-linear CP capture system could be tried out (instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) This is for the sake of strategy.- Maybe a smaller map? The complex was pretty big, but I really liked the idea of spawning at the previous CP. Please bring back the complex soon!!!! STILL ANTICIPATING. Quote
