Well, I know there's been a lot of people who get bored of HS pretty fast and stuff but I just thought of an idea last night when i was bored as !@#$%^&* trying to sober up from drinking and making out with girls.. (didn't take advantage of anyone for those who wud bring it up) anyways.. I thought of an idea when i got home and went for a shower.. that what if we made it so that .. If one was to die, they would lose experience. If one was to kill, one would gain experience. (we already have that part) but the dying part of losing experience. I thought about how much more that would make things interesting, everyone would be cautious and it'd be a new experience for everyone. It would be fun for lots.. especially for vets because they get bored at a certain point, but considering theirs a lot of killing, everyone would be cautious. It would be challenging to gain experience for items. But also, for $2000000 (2 mil) we could implement a new item called NoExpLoss. It makes it so that when you buy this item, you wouldn't lose experience at all for a specific ship or all ships (That could be chosen later on) .. anyways..

I sort of though of the idea through buying items. You know how you need a certain amount of experience to buy items, and a certain amount of money to buy items. Only when you do by the items you lose that money for buying it but you still have the experience. Well I thought why not lose that amount of experience as you buy items as well. But Than I thought that wouldn't really work because people would have 6 exp from lots of people and it'd get things pretty complicated, so I thought of another way for things to get more interesting... something new to everyone and that even the vets would struggle with.. and than this idea popped into my mind. I would like some people's opinion's on this.. I don't want something like.. NO.. it's gay.. or something.. be logical and reasonable.. It's just an idea and it's just away to improve the zone to making it more interesting.

I guess the main question is.. Can you handle it or Will you struggle? (Only 1 way to find out)

Here's what I based it on...

Part of this HS is to use your skills to own others. If your going to sit around and be cheap the entire time there's no use for skill, which makes everything boring. If you have something like this it might make things more interesting...

ok this is an interesting idea.... but think of it this way... there are alot of people that play and still dont get alot... new people would come in find out it's even harder then before and they would just quit or complain.

I could handle this... bt only people that have alot skill or spare time can handle this... the rests will get frustrated and quit anyway.

This no exploss item... well people alrdy complain about saying it's too hard to get tw pass.. this will make it even more annoying for them.

I personally suicide alot to get alot of kills since 95% of hs players today give me 0-1 exp per kill. If this new way of playing happened ide probably bty(lame) more to make sure i dont lose exp per kill.

So from all this... i dont think alot of people could handle something like this and they would just end up quitting fromhow hard it will be.

Think of another idea or getting things back up, i dont think this will work blum.gif

Basically sort of what I thought, I figured it'd be useful for the vets, so i thought of having 2 different modes.. I'm not sure if it's possible but people can step it up to a next level. 1 mode would consist of what we have now, and than through some kind of command or something.. they could do a 2nd mode.. (Being able to access both modes whenever they felt like it) and they could go into 2nd mode basically restarted all their ships.. and where this exp affect comes into play.. Think of it like .. "Hardcore Mode"

I thought about that as well, but than i thought of the Tradekilling rule, But considering it'd be a second mode in a different arena, It would expand the job of moderators leading into a 2nd arena. Which would basically expand HS. Which could be a good thing... from here on out I started to get confused on how much we could actually do.. and if people would be willing to make it.. and than if people were willing to play it. I'm pretty sure the vets would play it.. I'm just not so sure on how they would handle it. I'm sure we could maybe expand our population and than possibly our staff if we did this.

The experience loss idea is interesting, but it would have to be disabled when a player has under a certain amount of experience (e.g. <1000) because currently, it is impossible for a player to necessarily get a positive record regardless of skill, if he only has beginner ships, and having them not be able to make a net gain in experience simply because they joined later or play less hours would not be fair for this type of game. Another countermeasure could be to disable exp. loss if the exp. disparity between both players is too great.

Having a different mode of play in a second arena would be very interesting when we have built up a population to support it, but at the moment, it would be counterproductive to fragment the population. I believe this was the original plan anyways with things like the soccer game, so maybe we'll see something similar.

I'm not against ridiculously expensive items, but these should be money sinks, and not powerful weapons/equipment/etc. If an item's usefulness is logarithmically proportional to its cost, then it would cause a negligible disparity between the rich and poor, which would be acceptable.

simply wont work cause people are pissy and like things their way, and hence need a good start if they are to continue playing. but true, more laming will occur and even less skill is gonna be used cause nobody wants to lose the experience

Ok well, how about the 2nd mode thing. Where it becomes a sub-arena.. different money modules.. etc. It's completely split up just you lose exp when you die .. (true people will whine and complain in public) but what if we moved it to a sub-arena where it became optional. Maybe for those who are more skilled could play there every now and than, and considering our zone doesn't crash anymore when we go to sub-arena's, it makes it all the more better. And there is a chance that we could expand our population, as people progress and become better in public they may want to step it up.. (We could even say that we recommend you become good at the 1st mode or something before you progress onto the 2nd).

Experience wouldn't be called experience if you loose it by dieing.

Money loss could be interesting:

In the game Diablo you have a bank/chest which can store a maximum amount of money based upon your experience, anything more you have to take with you. When you die, you loose a fraction of your money if you can find your body back. Or you loose it all when you are unable to take it back (but you keep all your items).

So, an idea for hyperspace could be: You have a minimum amount of money which is based upon your exp, when you have more, you loose small amounts when you die. This makes saving for expensive items harder and more challenging.

However, I am sure nothing like this will ever be implanted.

Yes Jowie, but also in the game Diablo and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, when you die in the nightmare and !@#$%^&* difficulties (2nd and 3rd difficulties or modes) you lose experience.

As for the whole "Experience wouldn't be called experience if you loose it by dieing."

It happens in d2 and maybe the money thing is good but you do lose both in Diablo.

Making sense isn't the issue. I couldn't care less if a gameplay element made sense. What matters is if it's fun.

This idea wouldn't be fun except to the super elite players, who already have plenty of items to amuse them.

Other RPG elements could be fun...

Something like skill points would own:

Example: Getting 500 exp gives you 1 skill point, next skill points become harder and harder to get.

Example:

Speed and thrust - x% per point for every ship

Energy - x% ...

Recharge - x% ...

Special items / extra slots - Special item at 20 points, every 40 points an extra item slot.

Since it gets increasingly harder to get more points, your choice is limited. This would add huge diversity amongst players.

Experience per ship could be another idea, experience becomes easier to get by, but when you have multiple ships you have to actually kill people in them / win flag games to reach for the higher items.
