Ophie Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 so let me get this straight SVS. Your intention is to destroy the SS Community by doing nothing constructive to help build its player-base? Thats very awesome of you
AhmedF Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 You know what your problem is? I'm too good looking
L.C. Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 I do agree with SVS for the most part; do you people even read what he says and compare them to other people? Just because he himself may be lacking something, that doesn't seperate some of his words from being the truth. I do support Polix in his push toward creating a huge CMS-like portal for the Subspace community, but I disagree for the fact that he has pretty much outright rejection of non-SSC zones. He denies room for other zones and is very self-centered. From the Thread, "Why is Continuum Population rate going down?, Give your oppinion on the topic."6. Accept non-SSC zone requests to be placed into the Subspace Navigation bar at the very top in the zone list. Perhaps even actually check out some of these zones and see if it's a serious or joke request (if someone is actually trying' date=' give them a freaking chance). 7. SSC should be more open instead of eliminating "sucky," "unpopular," "lame," "empty," "nooby," "looks like a noob made it," zones. Instead of restricting everything down to where only zones that meet the standards (the opposite of the "phrases"), SSC should open up room for these kinds of zones to CENTRALIZE and UNITE. There is no security risk. If someone actually wanted to screw with SSC, they could have already popped a few SSC zones offline for a while. Netbans should remain, zone operator access given to the zones as normal. Etc. 8. Overall, stop closing up room for people, beginners, and noobs who try to make their own world in their own zone. Give them a freaking chance and let them have their pride. They'll realize sooner or later whether to give up and pack bags or continue, and this will be on their own. There's no reason to "discriminate" non-SSC zones. How can you call it an attempt to unite the community when a chance for these zones are taken away and pissed upon? I've requested numerous times for Jackpot SVS to be added to the list and was rejected by PoLiX for perfectly the reason that it isn't an SSC zone. Screw you PoLiX.[/quote'] Wow, gj Polix. I'm having a tough time even deciding to have Death+ connect my zone to SSC because of the disadvantages and problems I will then have. If I go SSC, I have the chance to lose my zone to the communist dictators of Subspace. Perhaps I'll take advantage of my Public Biller, as it is being developed to have as similar stats to Bdvine's and components the SSC Network has. With the new website design I'm working on for Jackpot SVS, it'll make it a great design to incorporate webbased parts of the biller into it. Besides, I'm being serious with my zone.
Slipped Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 That's one bad thing about this community, we make it very difficult to create new zones. If someone comes along and has some great idea for a zone, it's nearly impossible to do unless you have "contacts" that are able to help you out. If you don't know someone who's high up or well-known in Continuum, there's not much hope of your zone ever taking off.
»doc flabby Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 is subspacenews just for SSC zones?
Slipped Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 No, if any non-SSC zone or server owners want to be able to post some news, they're more than welcome to as far as I'm concerned.
NBVegita Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 SS has always been like that. I wanted to start a zone back in 98-99 but I didn't know anyone in a high place back then and noone would give me the time of day.
»doc flabby Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 PSS has been trying to change that. We welcome people who cannot find a host else where on our servers. If you wanted to start a zone now there is plenty of options i think. SSDC have a number of servers too.
PoLiX Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 ...but I disagree for the fact that he has pretty much outright rejection of non-SSC zones. He denies room for other zones and is very self-centered. From the Thread, "Why is Continuum Population rate going down?, Give your oppinion on the topic."Accept non-SSC zone requests to be placed into the Subspace Navigation bar...Screw you PoLiX....Wow' date=' gj Polix. [/b']... The BOLDED parts are the ones that have really kept me from finishing/fixing the following: do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="t3g">T3 The Gauntlet (SSC)</option>'); do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('</optgroup>'); /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<optgroup label="---------------------------------------">'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="nonssc_1">Zone Name</option>'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="ssdc_1">Zone Name</option>'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="ssdc_2">Zone Name</option>'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="ssdc_3">Zone Name</option>'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="sst_1">Zone Name</option>'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="sst_2">Zone Name</option>'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('</optgroup>'); */ do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('</select>'); It came up in discussion, and the idea was with my code update to add them, but how does "Screw you PoLiX", make me care to do anything? Just because I say I don't want to keep up with it, doesn't mean someone else won't step up and do it, or talk me into it, which the later was the outcome. But hey... I'm self-centered, and have fully rejected all non-ssc zones, yep.
Hakaku Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 By posting that Polix, technically you are proving LC's point. Despite how rude LC's comment were (which really were). Don't stop because of one person, do it for the community. As I originally thought this project was about, but I guess I'm wrong on a lot of things. Meh, what's new about that.
jacob hunter! Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 Yea don't worry about low level people's negative comments. such has myself
L.C. Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 P (PoLiX)>only doing SSC zonesP (PoLiX)>They change enough as is, not going to keep it with non-sscP (PoLiX)>I add 1 non-ssc, and I have to add any of them that ask It came up in discussion, and the idea was with my code update to add them, but how does "Screw you PoLiX", make me care to do anything? It wouldn't matter anyway, because you wouldn't do it either way. But hey... I'm self-centered, and have fully rejected all non-ssc zones, yep.And that is exactly the reason why I have unstable grounds when speaking or simply with you. Despite my rudeness, I think my point does serve its purpose. I've waited from 6 months to almost an entire year (of just concentrating on) to get my zone in the list. For a few months even, there was absolutely no word about my submission/request, which is why I revived it. It shouldn't take that long for a person to do it. I'm not against what you are doing, that is the whole Subspace community project and stuff. I'm not against any of that and I'm completely supporting you. Again, the thing that sparks so much negativeness from me is that you are being bias and SSC-only, as you want to "unite the community." Please, either say unite the community and stick to the words or say along the lines of "unite the SSC network/community." This is specifically my reason for such bold and rude (I guess) upbringing toward you. It just angers me to see this happen within the community in such a stronghold, and probably the only one there is. That's the only reason you really gave me. Until now, you point out a slightly different reason. Thanks, I believe I've butchered my reputation in this community aswell as for Jackpot SVS. gg to everyone, atleast seeing that PoLiX publically replies to my arguement calms me down very much.
Sass Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 SVS you're not really known to have a constructive manner about yourself. You have bad bed-side manners, hate practically everyone, and boast on and on about how MG is the most original zone ever. You threaten to shut down several infantry zones and show little to no support (even destructive at times) to zones like SSCI Red Planet, which has graphics far more superior to MG's. Actually I thought the biggest problem with Red Planet was that the graphics were overdesigned. It's become somewhat apparent that the ss community is still in favor of good gameplay over graphics. MG does a very good job with both gameplay and graphics fitting for Subspace/Continuum. A+ MG. I'm not in favor of a consolidated website which controls everything as sooner or later it could become very biased toward one or two zones. I don't play Pro or Hockey so their news is irrelevant to me, I'm glad to hear that Hyperspace is up and couldn't care less about Halo or Red Star. A website fitting the players interest is what is needed - not a blanket. On that same note, Good Job to Polix and other web authors who have done what they've done for the community.
candygirl Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 Actually as the owner you are protected under the wonder of the internet.
