madhaha Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 I asked before. General consensus was its a good idea and other formats should be implemented. We wait.
»ZiGNoTZaG Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 frockin-A. midi. ya then we could get to listen to some really -*BAD WORD*-y sounds, even if we dont want to. get a kill and a really, really, ...really bad rendition of "another one bites the dust" plays. i would not be able to contain my glee. hehe
madhaha Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 Midi can be used for much more than that. Since the size of midi files is very small, you could have several hours of varying background music providing it was purely instrumentals. The quality is roughly equivilent to that of a SNES game (it varies depending on your soundcard and setup) so it isn't be that bad.
»ZiGNoTZaG Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 ya i was thinking on that a bit more, and it would be kewl for some things, you can get some ok sounds outa midi, but its so card dependent that ya never know how its sounding(to everyone else) unless you test it around quite a bit. but for maybe some game sounds, or an ambient thing like your thinking. the size of course is the major bonus.

Midis aren't all that bad. I have a folder with some midis that sound pretty sweet and "real". Midis would be good for victory music and other stuff... which just gave me another thought. How about different sounds if you prize different items? it'd be cool, but i'm guessing that it's too much to ask considering that there are a lot of items and that the music files for that item might add a lot to the size of the lvz

mister manners Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 hmmm... like background noises... also, on the topic of multimedia... graphics... skinnable in game continuum... well, it is a skin in game, you may add on to the radar and stuff... make a background for stats box and all... like a lvz but smaller
RocketGib Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003 Why not implement *.OGG Vorbis format?
madhaha Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003 That was the followup suggestion on the original thread.
Guest Legendary Ace Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 lol wat about mp3 support huh?
Xeterax Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Yes.. mp3 support would lower the file size for .wa2's exponentially!
Dr Brain Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Actually, as the .wa2s are already compressed, it wouldn't improve it that much.
Xeterax Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Dunno about you, but they are compressed between 1-10%. In mp3s, I can make a 6.5mb wa2 file into 600kb!
Guest Legendary Ace Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 yay! someone agrees with meu get a cookie!
Fox-1 Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 MIDI support would rock!We could have a little music central!
