Wormhole-Surfer Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 I didn't spend much time in Hyperspace, but from what I saw and readit sounded like it had some very innovative and unique features. If anyone could let me know what you liked most about Hyperspacethat you don't see in other zones, I'd appreciate it. I'm working on a new(non-infantry-style) zone and although I already have some unique ideaslined up.. a few more couldn't hurt. Thanks. Quote
Sharpflame Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Yay a new topic! It was great because there was basing(very fun basing), and a lot of action, plus you make money for killing people and buy new ships and such with that money. There is no other zone like it, and I would rate it 10/10. Quote
»1587200 Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 The only thing that sucked is if you were a newbie, you would get completely owned by everyone who had the money to purchase a lot of upgrades. Quote
Evil Doom Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 1:basing was fun2:owning in centre was fun3:turreting was fun4: you had to buy your guns, bombs, items, and ships, and there were cool thing like ?summon command (which you can force someone to attach to you that is on the team), and antideath5: even though upgrades were nice to have you can still keep a positive rec (not like it mattered) when though you had no upgrades (well atleast i was able to)6: and every ship had there own purpose... warbird was allrounder, jav had bouncing fast bombs, spider had a fast gun fire rate with with small energy cost but was slow, leviathan had best bomb speed but was slowest ship(i think), terr was the only ship to be able Lvl3 guns and bombs but it was big and kinda slow andhad alot of variety for upgrades, weasel had bouncing emp bombs, lanc was only attachable ship but was slow and big but had has most energy and good recharge, shark is the smallest ship can use some guns but no bombs but it was the fastest ship but with lowest enegy. that was alot of thinking Quote
nikegurl637 Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 People there were awesome. I stopped playing and sat around in spec and chatted. Quote

Shia' Tan Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 1) getting money as aposed to just getting points, which are worthless and get reset all the time anyway2) being able to upgrade, because u can advance, unlike other zones where u get the ship and fly around, here u work to move up3) the community is great, everyone is just chillin and flaggin and talkin to eachother4) when u start not being as much of a newb, and u can own other newbs 5) and staff is pretty tight, even when they do abuse Quote

Bak Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 I liked how they allowed VIE clients in so i could bring a bot in to tell me where all the flags were or move all the flags from a base on top of another player so everyone would acuse him of cheating. Also, basing the ball was fun, since you could hold off an entire team by yourself. I also liked how everyone sucked at dueling so I could beat anyone. Also, it seemed like they always left a way to get outside the map in so that you could get there and they'd warp you back to the middle. Quote
Bomook Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 <3 Bak Also, originally, HS had a little something for everyone. There was killing in the center for anyone, or soccer for those who enjoyed playing with a team, and flagging for the hardcore players. And aside from everything everyone else said, it was mostly the innovation and allure of something new. The only thing that sucked is if you were a newbie, you would get completely owned by everyone who had the money to purchase a lot of upgrades. Worm, if you are adding a buying system, I suggest either making the benefit of the upgrades marginal, or have every upgrade with a tradeoff. The main problem with the buying system is that new players, regardless of their actual gameplay skills, will repeatedly get owned, leaving the only way of killing anything as vulching (or if the situation allowed it, hunting down other newbies.) As much of a success as it was, I think Hyperspace could've gotten a much bigger population if it were more newbie-friendly. Quote

I agree. its can be realy difficult to move up from newbiness, especialy if u dont have any connections with more pro players. Quote

I disagree,I think that makes it fun,Hyperspace was my first zone as a newbie to all of this, and it was exiting. Of course, I did have help (thx shrop) and that did help, but you have to work for good things. That make the zone even more awesome IMO. Quote

I'm not very interested in this topic but I've read this to see what it's about.. My opinion would go along the lines of Sharpflames. But in some kind of way (not a lot) agree with Bomook about being newb-friendly. The thing was, you needed to be pushed to improve your skills, to make friends, and to earn your status/reputation. I was pushed and put down my BrickWarp, keyword being pushed. I improved my skills a lot more than I could have imagined.. lol. And gained status/rep. Although as I became a mod everyone accused every little thing as abusing .. but I wasn't surprised lol, all mods basically get the same treatment.. I would know considering I was one to help out with that part of things . Anyways, enough bout me, Hyperspace was great for many reasons and as far as I can see there can never be a duplicate or something much better. I don't know Dr Brain's view's on it or the staff's view's but I found HS pretty fun and it was there to entertain me when I was bored in spare time. It, for sure was addicting and the people we met, were just amazing... A fantastic experience and can't wait til it gets back up. Quote
Dr Brain Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 The newbie unfriendliness was never a big concern for me. Some people have a big issue with fairness, but I've always seen it as a challenge, and therefore more fun. Yes, things could be perfectly balanced, but that's just boring. Quote
Muskrat Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 I like that hyperspace was spaceships in space with ships similar to the originals... something that imo you should take note of, wormhole. Quote
Sass Posted December 28, 2006 Report Posted December 28, 2006 except for those goofy ships, i liked the way that buying worked. a lot of zones grew in their own way from ideas that brain implemented in HS Quote
