Lord_Of_The_Greens Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 probably because this game doesnt seem to work on newer comps
JmSplat Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Well if people ARE having problems running the game on a new computer then they probably wouldn't care too much about troubleshooting it. If you have a modern computer there are crapload of both pay (mmorpgs) and free online games out there. World of Warcraft/EVE are a couple of examples. Those aren't really the ones that subspace competes with anyways. If you're paying for those games then most people would much rather plunk their time with those. It's the free games that really stomp all over subspace. On the free games front there are things like Maplestory, Pangya, and Space Cowboy. All of them are terribly fun. I don't know if the population will only keep going down or fluctuate as time continues. It doesn't help that the one guy that works on our best client has much much better things to be doing.
L.C. Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Well there isn't anything we can do about it. Until someone comes along to reinvent the wheel (produce a crystal clear clone of Subspace), this community is in a definate downhill. ;o
MikeTheNose Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Life sucks and then subspace dies.

All you have to do is keep a good old machine up and running for the sole prupose of playing the game. I recommend looking for an old beater in the range of 200MHz or so, check your local thrift stores and such. I have successfully run subspace on a 486DX4~100MHz machine with 64MB RAM. Now that's saying something!

Now that's saying something!Well that's true, but that's also not what I really meant. People will eventually get bored of doing the same thing over and over again. I've seen people drop out of gaming as their late teens and early adulthood began, simply because to them, gaming really was something of the past (a "childhood toy"). Without updates or anything new in Continuum, and seeing how we have a problem getting more people to join this community to play, overall you can already make the easy guess that at this rate Subspace will be dead in a few years (5, 10, or 15?). Depends what you consider dead (ie, =<250 Average Players, =<50, or =<5, etc).
