I think delic could do some good for 17th and he always had tons of ideas. Ofcoures he wont bring 100 players+ into the zone (that would take some massive client upgrades to make ctm compete with all the other games out there) but im sure with help ect he could gather a small playerbase which is way more than there is thoes days if i understand things correctly.So if the zone is dead and noone think it can be brought to life again,then give him a chance since there is nothing to lose only to gain

Emblazon Posted December 1, 2006 Author Report Posted December 1, 2006 pernille: I already suggested to mike to let delic be hsysop, and he said no. delic: and as far as complex not being used, ur half-right. it was used for a short time, mostly as a test. but it was pulled, and not used again. its a shame really, because to concept itself could have been made into a brand new zone, or used to help 17th.

Trip' Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 Been in the zone for goin on 4 years now. Never seen MTN do anythin besides pop into the zone for a quick jaunt every 6-8mths. I honetsly dont think he really "owns" anything, so just give Delic HSysop and watch, MTN wouldnt even know about it because he doesnt do anything, unless someone tells him of course. But thats the point if no one tells him he wont know anything....

BUT There is a reason he has kept posting all this time and it is either one or two things. He is either an idiot, or cares about the state of the zone. At this juncture no pub game has been played nor jav match for maybe two weeks. He can't screw with anything worse than it already is for it seems to be his desire to also help the zone. This poll which was done by a former sysop is the first time to have an open polling of such a thing which i think is good but it shows that the rigidity in which things have been done and the veil which seems to remain between Mike and players. There needs to be a balance of interests- none of this events are most important, or pub is most important, they both are. Players need to decide what they want out of the zone in detailed answer. Most of it would be population but then how does that come back? What would make players come back? Something old? New mixed with old? An overhaul? Or is it time to move on? Done.

Delic Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 The state of the zone is the very reason to why I've been very critical towards staff, naht.I believe I've had good reasons, because I know this could've easily have been avoided had there been someone who knew how to manage the zone.But I do admit that it got to the point where I'd be too critical to staff, or should I say some staffers, because I know that a lot of staffers did their job as well as they possibly could, and obviously I was never critical towards them.I won't deny that I've been very immature about it. I've been here since early 2001, and it got pretty frustrating when Staff wouldn't listen to us players (those who knew what they were talking about anyways) when we told them that what they were doing was wrong, that it would have very bad consequences.Of course they'd laugh at me and everyone else who claimed the same. And where are they now? They're all long gone because they either never really cared about the zone or gave up, moved on, whatever you want to call it.My point is that my reactions were natural, it's not an excuse, it is the reason and I think you'd understand if you saw things from my perspective.Of course, if you don't know me and only looked at the way I acted towards those staffers then you'll think I'm an !@#$%^&*hole.And those who have that opinion about me probably won't change it, but apparently they're in the minority >;P! But I do believe that it's in the past now, and is therefor more or less irrelevant.17th now has a chance to start over again. I know that the potential is still there, the tricky part is to bring it forward, give it shape and form, and present it to the players who're interested in this type of gameplay that I know is unique in SubSpace.

Delic wants to try, let him try. I don't think you have anyone else who does. Being critical of the past staff is just a plus.
Telson Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 You guys underestimate Mike. He has done plenty for 17th. Past and present. Mike is the puppetmaster of 17th. The only reason complex failed was that it was extremely dependent on bots. We were developing a smaller map for complex which would of solved everything when we started having bot issues, because of Nurples's server. Myself, being Hsysop at the time, had no choice but to revert back to a bot friendly pub (IE: East/West Soccer) due to a severe decline in population. Staff in the past (with the exception of Dark Nexus and Vile) always did what was in the best intrest of the majority. Poles and testing were done before hand. The zone just had to many whiners. Hsysop is overrated. Delic, Creatix, Tex, . They will run into the same problems previous HSysops have had in the past. Compared to the names mentioned, Manus would be a decent choice for Hsysop in any zone. Unfortunately he is smart enough to not take the job.

The problem with 17th at the moment is that there is nothing to do!! People enter they will get bored because theres nothing to do and leave. 17th used to own when it had decent population but you got to let go of them days because theyre not coming back. This is an excellent chance to start up something new and exciting rather than dragging a corpse along the ground behind you. But before it goes through the idiot group to see if they will put it up as a map/lvz/sets etc.. always think about what the players would want. I don't think to myself 'this should be like this because i like that'. I plan my moves out which is what Mike should do. Either way you got a choice. You can refurbish what you already have OR you can create something entireley new and even give the zone a new name. As I stated above just think about what the players would want. Vets and noobs, league players and pubbers. It really is that simple to create something good. I'm not saying thats all you have to do because there is alot more work to it than that. IF your choosing to refurbish the zone then scrap the balling idea... it's fun for maybe 30 minutes when theres 20 people per team but other than that its !@#$%^&*. If help is needed with sets/maps then I can help. I'm already half way through making a whole new shipset that 17th could use. Anyone got any ideas of gameplay? Or types of shipsets?Give them in detail. Example - Leviathan should be a defense unit, heavy bombs, lots of energy, fast recharge but very slow. Half of this post probably dont make any sense because im tired as !@#$%^&*.
