Some Sunday, 2002. The exciting league day that many squad players have been looking forward to has come.

Before and after the league matches, 17th Parallel Staff is hosting 2 events at the same time that some total 30-40 players are attending. This while pub still has enough players to have a good game going.

 

Some Sunday, 2006. Cubs is sitting in spec alone with the bots, not even the Head SysOp who's often seen idling in spec is here.

Cord who plays other zones under aliases has abandoned the zone and when he's not playing SubSpace he's thinking he's kool being a secret agent.

All the other arenas are empty, except for the bots or maybe some staffer who's AFK in a private arena.

Playing the only event that could possibly be played with the average of 3 players (and if we're extremely lucky 4) is not possible because the one and only bot that is actually needed, is not there.

I say give Delic the HSysop.

 

While you might not agree with everything he says, he actually cares about the zone, and has the ideas to change it.

The staff since DN has added NOTHING to the zone since they took over. They put in the same settings as pre-complex settings and let the post DN semi-resurgence dwindle to an unplayable joke of a zone.

 

The worst that could happen: ridiculous changes and you loose the 10-20 loyal players that havn't given up/stopped caring/don't laugh at the fact that 20 people in your zone is considered "good population".

 

More likely scenario: Veteran player brings new ideas for the zone, actually works to make it happen. When said changes are made, tells his e-friends about it, they tell theirs, zone is good, they stay, old pop comes back, etc.

 

MOST likely scenario: This thread/post will get deleted/edited, nothing in the zone will change, and I'll laugh every time I see single digits to the right of 17th Parallel.

 

ANYTHING is better than the worthless abortion 17th is now.

I could sit here and tell you what I would do and give a bunch of promises about how good the zone will be if I got Head SysOp, but talk is cheap, I'd rather prove what I know I'm capable of accomplishing.

 

But yeah, not very likely, and it's too bad for us who want to play 17th again.

 

As Whitey said, anything is better than how it is right now. In the 5 years I've been around here, 17th has never been this bad. And I'm not even exaggerating, the zone has never been dead for this long before.

It's been this dead before, but not for this long before it became playable again, which I really thought would happen again, but unfortunately the SubSpace community ain't that strong anymore. And it may or may not be the SysOps' fault, but fact of the matter is that they seem to have abandoned the zone and are doing nothing to try to improve it.

Nice nice. Thanks to Saty we played a good Rumble with 4 teams of oldies with some more in spec

I haven't seen a Rumble being played in months, but obviously this was just a one-time thing.

 

If we had a host maybe we could've played SBL or if we had a 2v2 bot we could've played that and kept the zone alive for a little longer.

 

If we had an interesting pub, a thing like this could've sparkled a much longer gametime.

If you really think you can make a difference Delic, just let me know and I'll tell Mike to give you HSysop. And also, for those of you who think we just sat here and did little to nothing since I was put in charge, you're very wrong. But, I know it doesn't matter what I say, everyone will have their own opinions, some will be more vocal about them than others. But do keep in mind that I was put here to try to help the zone, and my ideas didn't work. So, either the zone shuts down now, or we let Delic try his ideas.

It's true. We worked on and completed a ton of new events for the zone to play, and since vile tried a bunch of new ideas (and people begged for the old pub) and nex did nothing, we put the old public back and tried not to change it since people wouldn't stop saying they wanted it (when obviously we know that they didn't). But anyway, it was about keeping the zone fun and giving the people what they want, and we tried that.

 

If Delic wants to give it a whirl, we are definitely for it, either way, the upper staff will be resigning whether the zone dies or not, let's all laugh at delic and talk trash at how he killed the zone now!
