Decoys are right next to completely useless. It's too easy to tell if a decoy is fake. Weapons go through them, they dont lose speed when they bounce off walls, and their radius is only one pixel. Why not make decoys a little more convincing by giving them a normal ship radius, have them lose speed like a normal ship when they hit a wall, and maybe even have the server option to enable them to absorb weapons?

Hit stealth at the same time you release a decoy, it will improve effectiveness 300%

 

It also helps to be off the enemy's screen when you do this, but if you are being chased by a group, usually you can split them up with this technique.

Well.... decoys are a bit more useless with continuum. If the zone allows everyone to see eachother's energy via one of the biller commands.. I think it was *energy or somethin, you could easily tell who's the decoy and who isn't... the decoy doesn't have an energy tab. Also, if you have the player to player lag thing enabled (it appears next to the name), you can tell who's who, because the decoy's lag never changes. oO
