Guest DaRuler Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Hey, First of all, I was playing continuum just fine on my computer until a couple days ago. First off, I can't even double click the icon to open it. When I do, it appears in the task manager but it just never opens. I uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times with no luck. I can only run it by right clicking on the icon and clicking "run as." and the I press ok and it opens continuum. Then, the zones appear and everything and I type in my name/password and the zone starts loading/welcome messages appear to the zone I'm going to, but it never loads completely. For example: It could load to 54% and then something screwy happens: The client automatically closes with an error dialogue box saying: "Unable to create zones\SSCU Trench Wars/trench3.lvl" if I try to enter trench wars. I've tried to enter multiple zones and the same thing happens. Other than just closing the entire client, it also changes my desktop background to a blue color. I'm guessing the standard color. I don't know how this could've happened because I haven't installed any software on my computer recently. Please help, thanks. Will
»SOS Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 There is a big FAQ topic about Continuum not loading. Read that and try all of the suggested fixes and see what happens.
PoLiX Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Well, SOS's idea will fix the run as issue. After a fresh restart, right click the icon, run as, and it should work fine. If there is 1 client open (even though it's not fully open, it is trying to run in the background), and you open another with run as, any new downloads will not be added as the user does not have permission to create new files. The reason it stops at 54% is probably the zone has lvzs (Knowing Trench Wars, yeah), and the 54% is the map. But see if you can't find any other solutions for your problems in our faq also: http://forums.sscentral.com/index.php?act=...&CODE=01&HID=17
»Maverick Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Never run the client via the Run As... option! This will give you all sorts of problems and isn't the right mode to run the game in. Just try to solve the original problem that you get when you start the program like normal. (Try turning off active anti-virus/anti-adware/etc software. Make sure you are Adminstrator at the computer.)
»SOS Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Yes, what Mav said. I have no idea which one of my ideas PoLiX is talking about (wrong thread? ) since I can't find a single one in my post
